Stamp Collecting is the most popular hobby in the world. Unlike other  hobby, stamp collecting also retain most of its value.  To get started, you need a album (common brand including Scott, Minkus, Harris, Gibbons, Safe, among others) , hingers, a magnify glass, and a pair of tones. A Stamp catalog will also be helpful for you to identify stamps.

Many stamp collectors also have defined area of collecting interest.

General collections are by geographic area, such as Worldwide, British Commonwealth, Foreign or Oversea Countries, Europe, America, Asia, Africa, Oceania, etc.  

You can also focus on country collection(s), with popular countries like US, Canada, Mexico, GB, Australia, New Zealand, France, German, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Russia, Romania, Czechoslovakia, Switzerland, Austria, India, Vietnam, Israel, Dubai, Kuwait, Zanzibar, China, Korea, Japan, Argentina, Brazil, Venezuela, etc.

There are also specialized area, such as Back of Book (BOB), like airmail, post history, postal stationary, Official, Newspaper, Postage Due, and US Federal Duck stamps etc.
