At Nemo's Utopia we love to connect with people around the world and share our discoveries with you - however - there are some unique challenges to selling to the world as a small business.

We love our international customers and we want you to be able to purchase our goods as inexpensively as possible without having to waste money on shipping. At the same time, we want to be sure that nothing is lost or damaged in the mail. Because of these goals we have instituted several policies when shipping internationally.

For everyone's convenience we have drawn up some guidelines regarding international shipping we like to hold to in most cases. Feel free to ask if you have any questions!

1) We always use the US Postal Service (USPS), it is the cheapest method and is normally quite reliable. We determine the price of shipping by measuring the weight and size of the package. Our materials and handling fee is always <b>only $1.50</b> over that price. We are just looking to break even with materials not break the bank with excessive fees.

2) We must insist upon both insurance and air mail for the safety of your package. Airmail is typically a week or less to arrive in most countries (USPS says 4 to 7 days) and less transit time means the package is less likely to arrive destroyed. Going by boat can increase the ship time to several months and during that time it is much more likely damage will occur. We have found that the presence of insurance will often encourage mail carriers to be more careful and thoughtful with a parcel - we also insist upon protecting your purchase and ourselves from a careless postal employee.

3) One of the best values we have found is the "Global Priority" mailer - for about $10.50 (to most countries outside N. America) it can fit several prints, magazines or other items as large as 8.5"x11" (21.6x27.9 centimeter). The mailer allows for up to 4 pounds (about 1.8 kilos) of materials to be inside the mailer with no additional cost. These packages are also automatically covered for up to $60 worth of merchandise. For the reasons of speed, insurance and weight - we encourage this method of shipping as the most safe, secure and cost effective.

4) Despite all our best intentions to get your package sent to you as soon as possible, we have no control over customs and sometimes your package may be held up by your own government. For that reason, we want everyone to know that while we expect packages sent by air to arrive in a week of shipping - sometimes waits of up to 8 weeks can occur. We actually experienced an 8 week wait for a package going to Vancouver, Canada - a city that takes just 7 hours to drive to from our location. Unfortunately, we can never know when to expect a package to arrive or help in these circumstances.

5) Your package may be liable for taxes or VAT in your country - unfortunately, we are not experts in that field for any foreign country. Please inquire at your own local postal facility if you have any questions regarding VAT, taxes or similar topics.

6) There may be cases of very large orders where we will have to "guesstimate" the shipping price and ask for a deposit to expedite shipping. If paying with paypal we will either refund excess postage or invoice you for additional fees if those occur in the shipping process. Our scale can only reliably measure up to 10 pounds (4.5 Kilos) beyond that we need to take a package to USPS for an accurate total.
