Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can I pay with a check or money order?
A: As of 2007, eBay regulations no longer allow checks and money orders as methods of payment. However, if you are using the "local pickup" option, I will gladly take your check or money order (or cash) as payment.
Q: How big is the sea glass I'm bidding on?
A: The description of every item will include at least one photo with the sea glass next to a US dime for size reference. In addition, there will be a WRITTEN statement detailing size, given in both inches and milimeters.
Q: What is your return policy?
A: If you buy something from me and you don't like it, send it back within 14 days for a full refund. Byuers are responsible for the cost of return shipping. However, please note that large "mixed lots" are not returnable, and items cannot be returned on account of defects mentioned in the description.
 Q: Do you combine shipping?
A: Yes, shipping can always be combined. When you use automatic Checkout, shipping for each item beyond the first one is calculated at a reduced rate. However, if you're buying a mixture of bulky and small items, the checkout calculator doesn't work so well, so you'll probably be better off asking me for a combined invoice.
Q: How long will it take for my order to arrive?
A: That depends on where you live. Because I live in a small town "at the end of the world," Priority and First Class mail (in the US) nearly ALWAYS takes 3-4 days to get "there" from "here." Our Post Office is NOT open on Saturdays. If you live outside the US, expect 7-10 WORKING days for airmail; a bit less for Canada.
Q: How much is the Shipping Charge?
A: I ship the majority of Sea Glass and Pottery lots by First Class Mail, in a padded envelope, so as to save people money on shipping. Priority Mail for a small piece of glass would be EXPENSIVE. For most sea glass, shipping is $1.95 for the first lot and $0.75 for each additional lot.
 Q: Do you ship internationally?
A: International shipments are not a problem. However, please be aware that after the last US Postal Service changes, there is NO "economy service" available, so bulky/heavy items are VERY expensive to ship to non-US destinations.
Q: How quickly do you ship?
A: In general, I try to ship everything within 72 hours of sale. There are some exceptions to this. If you have used "buy-it-now" for some items, and I see you are also BIDDING on some items, I will hold your buy-it-now items till the auctions have closed UNLESS you specifically request me to do otherwise.
Q: Do you charge a "handling" fee?
A: There is sometimes a small handling fee added to lightweight lots. This covers my cost of buying sturdy padded envelopes and packing material (50-60 cents). What may LOOK like a handling fee on some shipments covers the cost of delivery confirmation.
Q: Can you insure my shipment?
A: Insurance is no longer an "optional service" with eBay, but purchases with a total value in excess of US$75.00 will usually be sent insured. NOTE: Insurance to overseas destinations is VERY limited.
Q: Do I always get the item in the photo, or just "one like it?"
A: Every item I sell is individually photographed, even "bulk lots" of Sea Glass that vary very little from lot to lot. What you get is ALWAYS what you saw in the photo.
Q: Is all your Sea Glass natural? How can you have so MUCH of it?
A: ALL the sea glass I sell is natural, surf tumbled, as I find it on beaches around the world. Much of it comes from the Pacific Northwest. The REASON I have "a lot" of glass is that I have been collecting it for almost 45 years, and am gradually sorting the multitude of jars and bins I have been tossing it into, for all that time.
Q: What is "jewelry" and "mosaic" grade sea glass? How are they different?
A: In short: Jewelry grade sea glass is the best, as far as condition goes. Pieces will be smoothly frosted, have rounded edges, and only tiny irregularities or flaws. Mosaic grade is somewhat "rougher," with various small defects, but by no means "junk." For a longer answer, click on "How I Grade Sea Glass" in the left column, below Store Categories.
