Confused by the New Star Ratings for Sellers?

Wonder what all the Hooplah from sellers is about?

We have created this page to dispel some of the confusion and bewilderment for those Ebayers that are interested.

We have always worked to deliver Five Star service and products. However, with these recent eBay changes, our business can be negatively impacted by a simple misunderstanding of the new star system.

Did you know...?

• that eBay considers anything less than *****Five Stars***** to be unacceptable for sellers and has penalties for such?
• actual shipping costs app. $9.50 for a 2 pound package from MS to CA? And some nearby rural areas, too!
• that shipping time should be based on how quickly we package and ship, not how long it takes Fedex/USPS to deliver?

• A 4.3 average on any star can cause a seller to be suspended at a moment's notice

  • But that seems strange, since Buyers see a 4 star rating presented as Accurate, Satisfied, Quickly and Reasonable.
  • So, if everyone rated us with 4 stars because we described accurately,communicated satisfactorily, shipped out quickly and charged reasonable rates.......we could be suspended.
  • I know, I know, it doesn't make sense to me either, but a Four Star Rating is viewed by eBay as BAD.

• What about Free Shipping?
  • Would you make the mistake of rating Free Shipping as a 3 Star?... as neither reasonable nor unreasonable.
  • Although it sounds like a decent answer, since you didn't pay shipping and it seems that this star would not apply. Well, it definitely does count!
  • Yikes!...that 3 star would hit us hard!

Why am I telling you all of this?

• I think most our customers would like to know the truth about how strongly the Star Ratings impact all of us. After all, if you want your favorite sellers to stick around, consider posting Five Stars.
• We love making our customers happy by providing great products and excellent service!
• And Our livelihood depends on it!
  • We are a family business and our Ebay sales are very important to our finances. We are, after all, just like you; trying to make ends meet, pay for college, weddings and the sort.
  • Low stars can cause us to pay higher than normal fees, make it harder for customers to find our products, or cause us to be suspended for 'Good', Accurate, Satisfactory, Quick and Reasonable Service.

• We hope you have found this information useful and we hope that you will consider the impact that your star ratings will have on each seller.
• If you are happy with your transaction, be sure to use those stars and score up (like rounding up).
• If you really are not happy, contact the seller and give them a chance to correct the problem. After all, if it was an 'honest mistake' and they make it right.... you can have mercy and decline to leave stars.
