APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

   FloFlex5200

SURFACE PREPARATION

Clean out with a brush or blow out any cracks or potholes with a leaf blower or compressed air to remove loose and unsound material.

Apply to dry surfaces only. Moist or damp surfaces will weaken products ability to bond to the surface.
KEEP PAILS SEALED UNTIL READY FOR USE

MIXING

Remove 10-pound bag of topping sand and both A & B bottles of polymer from the 5-gallon pail. Shake the A & B bottles to mix well before use. Add the "A" bottle of polymer to the 5 gallon container of treated sand and mix with a pail mixer for 1 to 2 minutes until sand is completely wet. Next, add all of "B" polymer and mix thoroughly for 1 to 3 minutes. A longer mix of the "B" component will accelerate the cure time slightly and insures proper mixing. The material is now ready to be applied to the prepared area and should be in the form of a very pourable slurry. Working time will be approximately 9-12 minutes at an ambient temperature of 75 degrees F.

INSTALLATION

Squeegee, screed, gauge-rake or trowel the thin slurry over the repair area. The outer areas of the repair can be feathered into the existing surface with a hand trowel. Once the liquid material is applied to the repair area, broadcast the repair using all 10 pounds of the included topping sand evenly over the repair area. Apply the topping sand in several passes as the material begins to cure.

CURE

Cure for one hour minimum at a temperature of 75 degrees F. allowing approximately 30 minutes for every 5 degrees below 75 degrees. To maintain a rapid cure at lower temperatures, add a measured amount of the supplied (free upon request) catalyst per the included intructions (see the FAQ below). Colder temperatures will dictate a slower cure rate.

PACKAGING & COVERAGE

FlexSet and FloMix: 5-Gallon Kit 55 lbs.
5-gallon kits will cover approximately 50 square feet @ 1/8" depth.

SHELF LIFE

One year when stored indoors, unopened under cool and dry conditions.

PAIL DISPOSAL

Dispose empty pails in accordance with local, state and federal regulations.

FIRST AID IF INHALED

Remove to fresh air, if not breathing, give artificial respiration, preferably mouth to mouth. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen, call a physician.

SKIN CONTACT

Wash skin with soap and water. Remove contaminated clothing.

EYE CONTACT

Flush with water; continue for at least 15 minutes. Contact a physician.

SPILL OR LEAK

In case of liquid spill of unmixed materials A&B absorb spilled material with sawdust, sand or other absorbent, sweep into waste container, neutralize with decontamination solution (93% water, 5% ammonia, 2% detergent) and store open container outdoors for a minimum of 24 hours. Dispose neutralized waste in accordance with Federal, State and local government environmental regulations.

DEEP POTHOLE REPAIR

  • Blow out standing water with a leaf blower or compressed air. Allow to dry, or dry wet asphalt or concrete with a propane torch. Area MUST be dry to ensure maximum performance.
  • Place ¾" crushed, clean, dry angular (not river rock) aggregate evenly just below grade. Combine A bottle of polymer with sand mixture and blend. Mix to wet out sand completely, than add B bottle of polymer and mix 1 to 3 minutes.
  • Pour mixture evenly over aggregate allowing penetration to bottom of repair. Material can be spread using a squeegee, gauge rake or trowel.
  • When product is level to grade, broadcast topping sand evenly over surface. The high traction surface matches the surrounding asphalt or concrete in appearance and can be returned to traffic in about 60 minutes.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: How do I maintain a rapid cure when it is cold?
A:
Use an appropriate amount of the included catalyst

Directions for use of catalyst with FloMix and FlexSet (optional)

Cure FLOMIX or FLEXSET for one hour minimum at a temperature of 75 degrees F. allowing approximately 30 minutes for every 5 degrees below 75 degrees.

MIXING of the ”B” Polymer component for 1 or 2 extra minutes is the first step to take to increase the cure rate at slightly cooler temperatures, or anytime you are looking for a little added speed.

To maintain a rapid cure at lower temperatures below 75 degrees add a measured portion of the vial of the supplied catalyst (2 oz.) appropriate to your conditions. Add the catalyst to the “B” component and shake before adding the “B” to the treated sand. Catalyst is free upon request with your order.

You will need to experiment to find what works best for your climate and project at hand. The following are approximate suggestions.

For temperatures below 70 degrees add 1/4 of the bottle of catalyst or less
For temperatures below 60 degrees add ½ of the bottle of catalyst or less
For temperatures below 50 degrees add ¾ of the bottle of catalyst or less
For temperatures below 40 degrees add the entire bottle of catalyst or less

Colder temperatures will dictate a slower cure rate.

Q:  Where can I find the MSDS sheets for this product?

A:  The MSDS sheets are available in Adobe Portable Document format (.pdf)

FlexSet A-side MSDS.pdf
FlexSet B-side MSDS.pdf
FlowMix A-side MSDS.pdf
FlowMix B-side MSDS.pdf

Q:  How can I calculate repair area sq. Ft. coverage with your products?

A:  Coverage calculation will depend upon the type of installation you need to perform. The material label reads:

“Each 5-gallon kit (55 pounds) will cover 50 square feet @ 1/8” depth”

This coverage rate applies to surface repairs such as restoring alligatored asphalt, or any skim application, such as to cure a pavement bird bath (puddle), surface fracturing, pitting, or floor restoration. In my experience with the product, I have found that 40 to 50 square feet per kit is accurate depending on the average depth of the pavement degradation

When using the product for deep pothole, spall, or large crack repairs, you can expect each 5-gal kit to fill approximately 1 cubic foot. Use the material over a ¾” clean dry angular aggregate. This will extend the cubic volume of coverage, as well as add additional compressive strength to the repair.

Q:  Is this product tested and approved by any government or industry agency?

A:  Yes, FloMix® and FlexSet® are approved by Department of Transportation Material Labs and Maintenance Departments for our U.S. airports, highways, bridges and roads; we provide a long-term, load-bearing, rapid repair solution for all your concrete and asphalt restoration needs. NATO/USAF APPROVED for rapid runway repairs.

Q:  What tools will I need to install this material?

A: We suggest you have the following items available:

  • Broom or leaf blower (or air compressor)
  • Drill - any quality 3/8" drill
  • Egg-Beater style Pail Mixer - or similiar non-aerating mixer. Used to mix the material

  • Trowel or squeegee
  • Eye protection and gloves
  • Rags or towels for cleanup

The following items are not necessary, but may be helpful

  • Duct or Masking Tape - If you wish to "form" your patch to a limited area with sharp clean lines
  • Propane torch - Only if it is necessary to dry out your area of repair.

Q: How much is shipping for a single 5-Gal kit?

A: We use FedEx Ground for orders of 11 kits or less. FedEx is currently the lowest cost method. We will determine and use the lowest possible cost method for every order. See the listing for your Calculated Shipping cost. Orders of 12 or more kits may be shipped by freight and will be determined by point to point lowest cost. We do not profit from shipping or freight.

Q: What FedEx Zone am I?
A: You can view your FedEx Zone here: FedEx Zone Locator.pdf

Please inform us whenever your "deliver to" location is a Business Address, and please include your telephone number for the FedEx documentation.
