Our Commitment to Education and the Arts:

At California Republic Stationers we believe that the pencil is an ideal medium for the expression and communication of human thought and creativity.  We have several programs designed to support the development of artistic and writing talents of our youth.  Generally, this is through the donation of our own pencils or other materials, but also takes other forms in terms of providing project and creative ideas and educational materials.

Our Pencil Pages website at www.pencils.com also provides an educational resource regarding pencils, forest management and additional areas.  Over the comming months we intend to further upgrade this site, adding content to increase it's value as a helpful resource for teachers and students alike.

You Can Create! Program

Through our You Can Create! Program we donate a wide range of pencils to support educational and art projects at schools within your community.   Each time you purchase pencils from Pencil World Creativity Store we will ask along with your order confirmation about a local school or other educational or community art program your would like to support.  If you do not provide us with your own preference we will simply select the school to recieve our You Can Create! pack.  Each You Can Create! pack includes a selection of pencils generally from our Spangle or Prospector lines.  The pack also includes information about the program and some sample ideas for creative projects for which the pencils can be used. 

If you are a teacher, parent of school age children or involved in education or art programs within your community your selected school or program can benefit when it is named as recipient of our gift pack.  We encourage you to share information about the Pencil World Creativity Store with your friends, family and colleagues asking them to name your particular program as recipient.  The more you buy for your own needs the more your designated school benefits.  We can also set up special order sales direct to PTSA or other organizations to save on freight and support special fundraising programs.

Annual Pencil Doodle Contest

For the 2005-06 School year we will be reviving our Annual Pencil Doodle Contest.   This contest allows classes from schools to participate by submitting students pencil artwork based upon our selected pencil theme.  Each grade will have three winners with a grand prize selected at both the High School and elementary/middle school levels.

Some comments from participants in our You Can Create! Program

Thanks so much for your support of missions; here in the U.S., we take school supplies for granted, but it's an amazing experience to be able to give them to someone in a developing nation for whom they are a great luxury. The two young women who led our children's ministry in Ndonyo were astonished when they gave the children a project to color and the adults of the church would only let them use one crayon each. Audrey and April had to explain that they wanted the children to use more than one color, and it was OK to do so!
