Elephant-Folio Size 1881 Chromolithographs of Birds
An exceptional collection of oversized chromolithographs featuring the birds of North America. This collection is the work of Jacob Henry Studer, ornithologist. More than 700 different species of birds are "artistically drawn and colored from Nature" by artist Theodore Jasper. These original chromolithographs are in superb condition with excellent color saturation and detail.
Rare Original Mini Posters from Multiple Collections (1890-1933)
For more than 5 years Period Paper has led the world with regular new releases of the world's best mini posters. These include some of the finest samples of poster advertising art of the late 19th and early 20th century. This month you can find new releases from collections released in 1898, 1913, 1914, 1925-1929, and 1933. They include stunning lithographs, color prints, typogravures, and halftone prints.
Hand-Colored 1970 French Costume Engravings
A rare and well-preserved collection of original 1870 hand-colored copper engravings, on heavy paper stock, of the historical costumes and fashions of France from the 5th century to the Second French Empire. The work of Pauquet Frères, these engravings include both historical figures as well as historical regional and national dress. Highly collectible not only for their subject matter, but also for their exceptional color saturation and the high quality of the detailed brushwork. The original copper plate impression is visible on many of these engravings.

1943 (WWII-Era) Original Photogravures of Europe
An exceptional collection of historic WWII-era original photogravures of various European landscapes, architecture, and people. The collection includes images from over 15 countries with incredible imagery of people in native costumes, important aerial images of cities, and stunning panoramic views of the European countryside.
1951 Original Lithographs by Toulouse-Lautrec
A collection of original lithographs from 1951 of some of the works of Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec (1864-1901) which were produced by legendary printer Fernand Mourlot of Imprimerie Mourlot Frères, Paris. These lithographs are miniature versions of some of Toulouse-Lautrec's finest lithographed posters from the turn of the 20th century. These are the most coveted of all the miniature posters that exist today due to the lithographic processes used to create them and the artists of the Mourlot studio who produced them.
1893 Chicago World's Fair Museum Quality Photogravures (1896)
The finest collection worldwide of original, hand-pulled, museum-quality photogravures of the art of the 1893 Chicago World's Fair (The World's Columbian Exposition). The artistry in the creation of these photogravures has produced the most clear, detailed, and broad tonal ranges that we have ever seen. The Intaglio process used for this collection is far superior to the more mechanical photogravures and rotogravures that we often see. The plate impressions are deep and visible to the naked eye. This collection took three years to create and was released in 1896.
Original 1962 Picasso Lithographs
Original lithographs of linoleum cuts (linocuts) by Pablo Picasso. These lithographs were created for an unnumbered and unsigned limited edition in 1962. The Galerie Louise Leiris, Paris loaned Picasso's original linocuts for the creation of these lithographs. Extraordinary in their creation, detail, and condition, they are regarded unconditionally as fine art and consistently appreciate in value.
Rare 1894 Boxing Collection - "Pugalists of America"
A rare collection of large-format original halftone print portraits of the great boxers and prizefighters of the 19th century. Short biographical sketches and/or accounts of famous matches are on the reverse of each portrait. The work of Billy Edwards, ex-Lightweight Champion of the World, this historical collection covers boxers from James John Corbett, the "Father of Modern Boxing," to Tom Hyer, the first American Champion, as well as boxers and other pugilists from around the world.
May 23rd Release - Rare Early 20th Century Print Samples
Period Paper has obtained a collection of rare early international portfolios with print samples covering a variety of fine art subject matter. These stunning print samples from the mid 1890's through the 1920's include lithographs, intaglios, gravures, etchings, engravings, woodcuts, and halftones. Original 1926 Ludwig Hohlwein Lithographs & Photogravures
An exceptional collection of original photogravures and lithographs of the poster designs of the master of German poster artist--Ludwig Hohlwein (1874 - 1949). Born in Wiesbaden, Germany, Hohlwein first studied for a career in architecture but by 1906 had turned to commercial art and poster design. Today Hohlwein poster art is highly collectible and much sought after. Stunning color saturation in the lithographs and warm tonal ranges in the photogravures!
Rare Original 1913 Mini Posters
Rare and extraordinary 1913 "mini poster" collection with some of the finest examples of poster advertising art of the late 19th and early 20th century. Original 1938 Henry Major Sketch Lithographs of Celebrities
A delightful and popular collection of lithographed caricatures of Hollywood celebrities of the 1930's. Each drawing by artist, Henry Major, is accompanied by a caption by humorist, Arthur "Bugs" Baer. These are two-sided lithographs and we have chosen one side which is shown here. Please note that these are lithographs and not halftone prints. Published in 1938, this collection is from a limited edition of 800 copies.

Original 1932 Photogravures of Romania
An exceptional collection of historic original photogravures of the architecture, landscape, and people of Romania. Portfolios, in this condition, of these remarkable photogravures are very expensive and nearly impossible to obtain. These original photogravures are not to be confused with the more common halftone prints. Each of these photogravures was created from an engraved plate and provides exceptional detail, contrast, warmth, and depth.

Rare 1883 Japanese Chromolithographs & Heliogravures
An exquisite collection of Japanese art prints and images in chromolithographs, heliogravures, and halftone prints. Created in 1883 and 1884 these come from a limited edition original portfolio. Please note that due to the complex original production involving the use of metallic inks, and specialty printing processes, the beauty of these works of art cannot be well captured digitally. The original items are more stunning and striking than the images online show. A truly rare and exceptional collection for the connoisseur of Japanese art.
RARE 1872 Mitchell's Hand-Colored Maps
A rare collection of original 1872 antique maps of the countries of the world including various city plans from the coveted Mitchell's New General Atlas.
