With winter setting in many pond owners have begun taking the necessary steps to ensure that their fish, plants, and pond equipment is winterized.
The first step is treating the pond with Autumn/Winter Prep. This will break down leaves that could get into the pond over the winter and break down sludge. It uses a cold water bacteria that works even when the water is below 40 degrees. It will keep your pond healthy during the winter and help jump start it in the spring.
The next step is to use protective Pond Netting. This will keep leaves and debris out of your pond. Leaves and other debris that build up over the winter create noxious gases and should not be in the pond. Pond netting will help ensure the health of your fish over the winter.
The last step is to use a Pond Deicer. Pond deicers keep a hole in the ice and allow for a healthy gas exchange from the water to the air. We have several pond deicers in our store. Let us know if you need help picking the right one.
