The Pink Accents Story
My name is Abby Zimmerman, and I am a jeweler based out of suburban Philadelphia. I began making jewelry in 2005, after becoming frustruated with the high prices and limited availability of jewelry that I liked while I was in college. After making a few pieces of my own, I realized I was pretty good at it, so I decided to take it to another level and start selling. And Pink Accents was born!
My eBay Boutique was opened in August of that year, with only a few small pieces. I took part in my first craft show that November, and fell in love with the routine, however I knew I couldn't make Pink Accents the main source of my income. Keeping it as a side project, I had a short stint as a retail manager followed by a 6-year career in Advertising, all the while wishing I could dedicate more time to this. In August of 2012 I made the decision to give Pink Accents the full-time commitment it deserves, quit my Advertising job, and gave up my steady income and health benefits for what I love the most - making beautiful jewelry by hand and watching others' faces light up when they fall in love with it.
Since 2005, I have sold my wares at over 50 craft shows throughout the Philadelphia area and kept up with the eBay store, selling more than 1,000 pieces of jewelry to people from all around the world. I am so thankful to each and every patron of this business, you have no idea. Without you, I would still be suffering through the day behind a desk in a cubicle, wishing I could do what I wanted to do. Because of your belief in me and your confidence in my product, I am able to make my life truly mine and for that I am eternally grateful.
About Pink Accents Jewelry
Jewelry Construction - My jewelry is made with nylon-coated stainless steel wire. Wire is much more secure than string in terms of delicate jewelry, and the nylon coating provides great flexibility. It is fastened at each end with a crimping bead, and looped to hold a clasp for closing. This method of jewelry-making ensures the lowest possible chance that the piece of jewelry will fall apart.
About the Clasps - Toggle clasps are the most widely used on bracelets here at Pink Accents due to their security and elegant nature. This clasp is made of a toggle (a long, round bar), and a ring. The toggle is inserted into the ring horizontally, and then turned and relaxed to create a secure hold on the piece of jewelry. I have extensive experience with all the various clasps I use, and can ensure you I have had no problem with any of them coming loose or falling off if the bracelet fits right (if it is too loose there will be enough length for it to slip off, see 'lengths of items' below!). Lobster clasps are used for necklaces and anklets, because they allow for extra length to be added easily, in the form of extender chain. Lobster clasps are named for their resemblance to the claws of the crustacean, consisting of the claw and then a simple jump ring, which is clips on to. Since the clasp closes near the base of the claw, the chances of it opening and letting the ring slip out are miniscule.
Custom Work - I also will design or redesign items in your size or another color if something is not posted in my store which satisfies you. Please send me an email with your request and I will do my best to accomodate you! I love challenges! For the safety of both myself and my customers, I will only accept PayPal as payment for custom orders, I will only ship to PayPal Confirmed addresses, and I cannot accept returns for custom-made pieces. I'm sorry, but I cannot grant exceptions to these rules.
Lengths of Items - I suggest measuring your wrist (for example) if you're buying a bracelet, to make sure the length of the item will be appropriate. The easiest way to do this is to use a piece of string to measure, and then determine the size in inches on a ruler. Measure around your wrist loosely to find the smallest size you can wear, and add an inch to that to find the largest size. Anything within this range would fit you just fine! Trying to close a piece of jewelry which is too small for you may result in the item breaking, or may cause injury to you, so please be careful. I cannot be held responsible if these occur.
Shipping - Pink Accents items are shipped with respect to the jewelry, and ready for gift-giving. The jewelry is placed in a pink chiffon bag, and tied at the top with a satin ribbon. This is then wrapped in white tissue paper, and sealed with a Pink Accents seal. Nothing resembling an eBay transaction is included within this bundle, making it ready to be given, if you are purchasing for a gift. This is then shipped in a 5-inch by 7-inch padded envelope, which will include a small invoice for your records. My goal is to ship any item within 48 hours of its purchase, however I cannot guarantee this and therefore apologize in advance for any shipment which may occur outside of this timeframe. When possible, I will notify a buyer to inform them of any delays.
Warranty - All items purchased from Pink Accents (including custom work) are warrantied for fourteen days after their ship date. Should the item break for any reason due to its construction (does not include if it breaks because it is too small for your wrist, etc.), the customer should contact the seller and arrange for the item to be returned to be repaired.
Returns - Returns are accepted for fourteen days beginning the day the item is shipped. If you are unhappy with your purchase, please send me a message as soon as possible so that I can review your case and get back to you in a timely manner. A small charge may apply for restocking fees and relisting fees. Buyers must pay for return shipping if a return is granted, and no returns are accepted for pieces custom-made (any change to any listed item renders the item unreturnable).
Payment - I expect payment within 72 hours of purchase. If an item is bought but not paid for in this timeframe, the seller reserves the right to refuse to sell the item, and eBay will be notified of the unpaid auction.
