 Reciprocating, Single Acting Pumps A single-acting pump utilizes a crankshaft to move a plunger in a reciprocating motion inside a fluid end or valve body. Fluid is pulled into the fluid cylinder as the plunger moves back and discharged as the plunger moves forward. Although single acting pumps are generally fitted with plungers and packing, they are also available with pistons and liners for some applications. These pumps are available in simplex (1 plunger), duplex (2 plungers), triplex (3) or quintuplex (5). Single-acting reciprocating pumps are capable of capacities of up to 500GPM and pressures of up to 40,000 PSI.

 Reciprocating, Double Acting Pumps Similar to a single-acting pump, a double-acting pump utilizes a crankshaft to move a piston in a reciprocating motion inside a fluid end or valve body. As the piston moves one direction, fluid is pulled into one chamber and forced out of another chamber. Therefore, fluid is being pumped both on the forward and the backward stroke of each piston. Double acting pumps are fitted with pistons and liners and are available only in duplex configurations. Double-acting reciprocating pumps are capable of capacities of up to 1500GPM and pressures of up to 2000 PSI.

 Centrifugal Pumps A centrifugal pump uses 1 or more impellers to move fluid through a chamber. The centrifugal force acting on the weight of the liquid being pumped creates pressure. Centrifugal pumps are available in a large variety of configurations, including vertical, horizontal, single stage, multi-stage, submersible, and many more. They are generally capable of capacities of up to 100,000 GPM and pressures of up to 2000 PSI.

 Rotary Pumps Rotary pumps, also called positive displacement pumps, use mechanical components such as gears, vanes or rotors to create a moving cavity the forces the fluid through the pump. They are available in a large variety of configurations, including double gear, gearotor, vane, and progressive cavity (screw). They are generally capable of capacities of up to 500 GPM and pressures of up to 1000 PSI.
 Steam or Air Activated Pumps A steam-driven or air-driven pump utilizes air pressure to move a piston or diaphragm in a reciprocating motion inside a fluid end or valve body. Fluid is pumped in a similar way as in a reciprocating power pump but steam or high pressure air is used instead of a crankshaft. These pumps are available in a variety of configurations including double-acting duplex and diaphragm.
