Bonjour, my name is Eve and I have been selling collectible vintage/antique clothing on eBay since January 2001. I have collected vintage clothing since the late 50's. I was 12 in 1956 when I bought my first vintage dress, and every dime of my allowance, babysitting money and later summer jobs all was spent on vintage clothes and jewelry. I have always been an avid "junker", hitting every swap meet, garage sale and antique store I came across.
I was a clothing designer for many years for a now defunct company called Opulent, which made one of a kind items for high end specialty stores. My design career began when I was eight years old and went begging for fabric from the other Mothers in the neighborhood, and I made my first dress from a pair of old embroidered pillowcases late at night when I could use the sewing machine which was stored in my room by turning the crank handle by hand as my mother would not let me use the machine, nor stay up that late. I begged a kimono from a Japanese war bride, and from the other mothers a panel of barkcloth and many other textiles and old lace doilies from their linen closets that started my love of textiles. This turned me into an avid junker and I always hit every swap meet, estate sale, and antique shop I come across.
Now I am retired, but my house is overrun with wonderful pieces, and I list a one or two every month. It is hard to part with any of them, but space and my constant buying creates a need to sell. I mostly collect 20's Deco and Edwardian gowns, the party dresses and evening gowns, the glamour pieces, but I have a few 40's and 50's pieces too, the old torch singer dresses or burlesque gowns, the sexy Hollywood styles. I try to offer the better pieces, both in style and condition, but remember, each dress is different, and the amount it can be restored to varies from dress to dress.
All vintage clothing has some imperfection, so it is very important that you ask questions so we can have a successful transaction. Due to the delicate nature of vintage clothing there are no returns unless an item is misrepresented. Please be careful of fit, most very old items will not fit the modern body and are for the collector. Items are measured at the full, so make sure to allow for ease. I try to sell clothes that are in excellent condition for their age, but on occasion I sell a dress that is not holding up too well, but that is so beautiful it is still desirable to the collector, these I mark as not wearable, for study or display. I take large photos and you do not have to click on them to see them enlarged, so they are easy to view. And remember to ask questions to be sure the dress you are considering is the right one for you......
People always comment on my "Queen of the Fairies" logo and on how beautiful the fairy picture is. My brother gave me the artwork as a birthday present some years ago. So when I was registering for eBay and I am seeing all these sellers with clever names I am wondering what to call myself.. So I was wandering around the house and I looked at the artwork and the name of the piece came to mind, "Queen of the Fairies". I opened up the frame and put her in the scanner, and have been very happy as the "fairy queen" ever since.
Please mark me as a favorite and be on my mailing list to see when I put another of my dresses up for sale. Enchanté...Eve
