| | | | Many people ask me, "What does NEW OLD STOCK mean?". NEW OLD STOCK, or NOS, is a term I took from the classic car hobby. I have three 1960's vintage Chryslers. When buying parts, dealers will state whether a part is NEW OLD STOCK, meaning it is new in the box from the 60's, 70's, or whatever. I think this term also works well for the vintage stuff that I sell. Most vintage things are used, but my vintage beads, etc. weren't taken from Aunt Millie's old necklace, or found at an estate sale or yard sale. My buttons weren't cut from Grandma Matilda's old blouse. These vintage goodies are all NEW OLD STOCK, never used, taken from forgotten old stock. Sometimes components are a little dusty, but they are all NEW & waiting to add some REAL vintage charm to your creations! Some items (finished jewelry) have tags, most don't, however they were all taken brand new-old from dusty stock boxes. Sometimes these are unfinished components, sometimes just plain forgotten parts and pieces form a bygone era. Not everything here is OLD, but most of my items are fairly vintage. I try to estimate age as best I can. Any tips or pointers about any of this cool stuff is greatly appreciated, after all, I am NOT that old! My experience comes from my love of antiques, and my dear mother who owned a vintage jewelry and clothing store for 15 years where I worked as a young college girl. I learned a LOT there! I have an extensive collection of vintage jewelry which I use as a reference sometimes to determine what era certain beads & findings are from. I'm talking PILES of old costume jewelry! WHAT FUN! |
