| How to make an Orbit Light Show!
Making an Orbit Light Show is pretty simple. If you don't want to buy a pre-made Orbit, here are some quick and easy instructions for how to do it yourself.
We'll start out with a simple two-light Orbit. This is the most basic Orbit Light Show. You will need the following supplies:
- Two LED Rainbow Keychains (or any other keychain type you choose)
- One miniature zip tie (make sure to get mini zip ties, standard ones are too big).
- At least four feet of 2mm satin cord (any color you like)
First, you need to remove the key rings from the LED Keychains. This will leave you with just the lights with nothing through the hole. Save the large key ring (throw out the smaller one). We'll use this later.

Next, take the zip tie and put it through both holes on both keychain lights.
Now, pull the zip tie as tight as possible.Make sure it's at the very tightest it can be, to prevent the lights from budging. Place them across from each other. Once you have it tight, cut the excess part off the zip-tie. Save it, you may use it later. Next, feed one of the satin cords through one of the holes in the bottom of the light. Fish it back through the opposite hole on the other side, as pictured. It should make a small loop on one side and have the loose ends on the other. Pull this tight. Now, pull the other cord through just as you did the first, except on the opposite sides. If you have some trouble pushing it though due to space, poke it using the old ends of the zip-ties you already cut off, or a safety pin. Pull this tight so the "loops" on the sides can't be seen. Also, even the loose ends so they are both the same length. (Note: I am using a four-light in this picture just for reference for those of you who want to make an orbit with more than one light, so you see where everything should go) Last, use the keychains you set aside from when you removed them from the lights. If you want, tie them to the ends of the ''handles" for ease of spinning. Personally, I prefer to just tie the strings off, but some people like to use the key rings, so it's up to you. Whatever you are comfortable with is fine. Just make sure the knots are very tight so you can orbit all night without having to re-tie.
And that's it! Congratulations, you just created your first Orbit Light Show, and you're ready to go! Have fun! And remember, if this isn't your thing, you can always purchase a pre-made Orbit from Rabbit Lights. |
