Christian Louboutin

In 1979, as he was walking alongside the streets of Paris, he noticed a billboard that instructed women tourists not to scratch the wooden floor in front of the Museum of Oceanic Art.

Louboutin felt bothered by this sign and, as a consequence, he would draw shoes with compressed buckles and with soles. He admits to having spent a lot of time as a teenager drawing these types of shoes in his school notebooks. These shoes would become the base of Louboutin's sales as a designer.

Dries Van Noten

Born in Antwerp in 1958, Dries Van Noten is the third generation in a family of tailors.  Between the two world wars, his grandfather reworked second-hand clothes by turning them inside out and introduced Antwerp to the concept of ready-to-wear.  In 1970 Dries' father opened a large upscale fashion boutiques in teh outskirts of Antwerp followed by a second outlet in teh city centre where he sold collections by Ungaro, Ferragamo and Zegna.  At the same time, his mother ran a Cassandre franchised store and collected antique lace and linen.

Dries Van Noten has been entirely self-financed since the beginning of his career and now sells his Men's, Women's and Accessories collections all over the world.  In addition to his boutiques in Antwerp, Paris, Singapore, Dubai and Hong Kong, Dries Van Noten works in partnership with some four hundred boutiques in cities such as New York, London, Milan, Berlin, Tokyo...

Eskandar

His career started by knitting fine jumpers for his friends, and he launched his first collection in 1994. The clothes take their influence from Asia and from Africa, and Irish washed linen is a staple in his collections.

He told The Sunday Times, “I don’t consider myself a fashion designer. I am influenced by clothes that haven’t changed for a thousand years.” The core womenswear collection has now been joined by menswear and childrenswear.

Currently the 37-year-old designer has one store in London off the King’s Road. In May next year, he is expanding the current location on Lots Road into an enormous new store, which will be designed by Eskandar himself.

Eskandar was presented with a British Export Apparel Award in May this year by the Princess Royal in recognition of outstanding success in the export market.

Fendi

Fendi originated in 1918 when Adele Casagrande opened a leather and fur shop in Via del Plebiscito in central Rome. When Adele married Edoardo Fendi in 1925, they made a decision to change the name to Fendi. The business prospered, and a new shop was opened in Via Piave in 1932. By 1946, Paola, the eldest of the couple's five daughters, went to work for the firm at age 15, followed by her sisters Carla, Anna, Franca, and Alda.

Giorgio Armani

From 1961 to 1970, Armani worked as a designer in well-known fashion house Nino Cerruti, after which he left to pursue freelance work. In 1974, with his partner Sergio Galeotti, he established Armani with a menswear label, introducing a womenswear line in 1975. His sister Rosanna Armani joined him in the company; Galeotti died of AIDS in 1985.

Armani achieved his international breakthrough by tailoring for numerous Hollywood names and especially for Richard Gere in the title role of American Gigolo in 1980. In 2001, Forbes named him the most successful Italian designer, estimating his net worth at $1.7 billion; in giving him the same title five years later, the magazine estimated his fortune had grown to $4.1 billion.

L.A.M.B. is a fashion line by American singer Gwen Stefani, the lead vocalist of the rock band No Doubt and a solo artist. The line manufactures apparel and fashion accessories. The line was founded in 2003 but made its runway debut the following year in 2004. The fashion line manufactures accessories like shoes, watches, bags and a fragrance called "L" as well. The name is an acronym of her debut solo album Love.Angel.Music.Baby.

Marc Jacobs

Marc Jacobs attended the High School of Art and Design in New York City and graduated in 1981.[2] He lived in Teaneck, New Jersey with his mother, sister and younger brother. At fifteen, Jacobs worked as a stockboy at Charivari, an avant-garde clothing boutique in New York City[3]. From there, Jacobs entered the Parsons School of Design in New York City. During his tenure at Parsons, Jacobs won the Perry Ellis Gold Thimble Award in 1984 and in the same year was also awarded the Chester Weinberg Gold Thimble Award and the Design Student of the Year Award.

While still at Parsons, Jacobs designed and sold his first line of hand-knit sweaters. He designed his first collection for Reuben Thomas, Inc., under the Sketchbook label. Following his studies at Parsons, Jacobs began to design at Perry Ellis (Ellis had recently died, so he wasn't there). Jacobs became prominent on the fashion scene when he designed a "grunge" collection for Perry Ellis, leading to his dismissal in 1993. With Robert Duffy, Jacobs formed Jacobs Duffy Designs Inc., which continues to this day. In 1986, backed by Onward Kashiyama USA, Inc., Jacobs designed his first collection bearing the Marc Jacobs label. In 1987 Jacobs was the youngest designer to have ever been awarded the fashion industry's highest tribute, The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) Perry Ellis Award for New Fashion Talent.

Moncler

Moncler is primarily known for its line of stylish skiwear. In fact, the company is credited with creating the first-ever down-filled jacket.[1] The company was founded in 1952 in the French town of Monestier de Clermont. Moncler, of course, is an abbreviation of Monestier and Clermont. It is a company of Industries S.p.A. of Italy.

A favorite of professional winter athletes, Moncler sponsored the official uniform of the French team in the 1968 Grenoble Olympics. Moncler's reputation received a further boost in the 1980s when the brand became hugely popular in Italy (which still accounts for 50% of the company's sales). Stella McCartney

Also not surprisingly, Aflalo got her big break from Fred Segal's trendsetting buyer Jon Eshaya, who so often has his fingers on the pulse of what the young and hip in LA want to wear.
