| Many of the movies in my store are Promotional Movie Screeners. Wondering what a Screener is?
Screener is the term used for the little blurb at the bottom of the screen when the movie first starts and then intermittently, that scrolls across the bottom stating that the movie is property of xxxxxxx and cannot be copied & sold. (Some companies have the movies go black & white intermittently during the film instead of the scrolling.) The purpose is to prevent the movie from hitting the public before the theaters.
Screeners are sent to the academy members to use for voting on best picture, actor, etc. Movie rental locations also get the prerelease screeners. They are meant to get the video store employees/owners interested in promoting the movie and ordering a lot of copies. They sometimes include extra footage, clips, etc...
This movie is not a new release so therefore cannot be viewed before the theatres so not to worry. The screener in no way takes away from the quality of the movie.
QUOTE from Ebay: "Some companies distribute "promotional copies" of movies, albums, or events to publicize the works before they are released to the public. Promotional items are permitted on eBay." |
