SOFTBALL BAT REVIEWS !

These Softball Bat Reviews (reflect the opinions) of the Kelly's Sports Staff of Ballplayers who have personally hit these bats.! The Softball Bat Reviews are also backed up by our sales from our store and also the feedback from our customers.

If you are looking for more power the heavy end loaded bats work best. If you are looking for power and base hitting the slightly end loaded bats work best and if you are looking for base hitting and bat control the balanced bats work best.

   TOP BATS FOR ASA PLAY

       1. The demarini softball bat juggernaut (a massive inexorable force that seems to crush everything in its way) pushes the limit up to the 98 mph level and is is asa certified.DEMARINI JUGGERNAUT
PERSONAL REVIEW:

We have been testing this bat since March 23rd 2007. Everytime we test this bat we like it more and more. The bat hits good out of the wrapper and has a very minimal break in period of about 50 - 70 swings. Once you get this bat broken in and you get use to the flex of the 2-piece technology and extremely balanced swing weight you will absolutely love the JUGGERNAUT. I was really suprised on how much pop this bat has for a ASA 98 MPH bat. The Sweet Spot is huge, the line drives are smoked and I really can't say enough good things about the JUGGERNAUT. It does swing extremely balanced so consider going up 1oz. from your normal swing weight. This bat is a must have for ASA and is without a doubt one of the top ASA bats in the game. Reviewed by Anthony Kelly.

         2. The Worth Mayhem 98 pushes the limit to the 98 mph. For the Worth Softball bat to be ASA certified it can not propel a ball faster than 98 mph.
 WORTH MAYHEM 98
PERSONAL REVIEW:

We have been hitting this bat since 4-1-2005 and the orange worth mayhem 98 is one of the hottest ASA approved bats in the game, if not the hottest. The orange mayhem 98 needs around 80 - 100 hits to loosen up and will only get hotter and hotter the more that you hit it. Our bat has lasted over 3 years and has around 2000 hits and it is still going strong. The orange mayhem 98 is one of my all time favorite asa bats. I even had a 4-4 game with 4 HR's and i've had multiple 3 HR games with this bat as well so it is definately one of my top choices for asa play. Reviewed by Anthony Kelly.

       3. Combat Anti Virus (Balanced meets the 98 mph limit and the the bpf 1.20 limit) Combat Balanced is approved for ASA. COMBAT ANTI VIRUS
PERSONAL REVIEW:

We tested the Combat Anti Virus on 10-7-2006. We tested a 28oz. on a 300 ft. field. We used a mix of Dudley Thunder 375 & 500 compression softballs. The temp. was around 80 degrees with a slight wind blowing out to LF. My three favorite features to the Combat Anti Virus is that it has a very thin handle, a really soft barrel and a great end load. The initial break-in was only around 30 - 50 hits. We have put around 500 hits on our Anti Virus and it is just getting hotter and hotter. The Combat Anti Virus is out-hitting alot of the top ASA bats out there and I would rank this bat as one of the top 5 ASA approved bats in the game. Reviewed by Anthony Kelly.

4. DeMarini Evo Ax pushes the limit to the 98 mph For the DeMarini Evo Ax bat to be ASA certified the Evo Ax bat can not propel the ball faster than 98 mph.DEMARINI EVO AX LIMITED
PERSONAL REVIEW:

We have been hitting with this bat since it's release date and the DeMarini EVO AX bat is definately one of the top ASA bats. If you prefer the feel of a balanced bat over an end loaded bat then the DeMarini EVO AX is a great choice. The DeMarini EVO AX works especially well for base hitting and opposite field hitting because of it's balanced swing weight and it also has no problem putting the ball over a 300' fence. The DeMarini EVO AX has very little break-in, around 40 - 60 hits for this bat to loosen up. The 2008 DeMarini EVO AX is a Limited Edition bat and is sold exclusively by Kelly's Ultimate Sports. Reviewed by Anthony Kelly.

  5. The miken recoil balanced softball bat  features the ballistic crosslinked system that provides 300% higher elongation for increased resilience at impact and unmatched barrel rebound. Dynamic Flex Ratio 250 allows greater stability for the power hitter, maximizing consistency and distance. Extended sweet spot design and extra long barrel construction offers the ultimate power source for serious ballplayers. Premium synthetic leather grip. Player preferred thin handle. X-Tack coating gives superior knob grip for added control. 14.5MIKEN RECOIL 250 MAXLOAD
 PERSONAL REVIEW:

We tested the Miken RECOIL ASA model on 5-19-2007. We tested a 28oz model on a 300 ft. field. The temp. was about 75 degrees and there was a slight wind blowing out to left center. We used a mix of Miken NRG 375 & 525 compression softballs. The bat was a little bit tight out of the wrapper like most ASA bats but started to really lossen up after 60 - 70 hits. Once it did break in it was a really impressive bat. I'd say it outhits the Freak 98 & NRG 500 easily. This is Miken's best ASA produced bat since the original Freak. The line drives were hard and the bat had no problem hitting the ball out at 300 feet. The sweet spot is enormous and is the #1 feature to this bat. It has a 14.5 inch barrel with over half of that being sweet spot. The Miken RECOIL ASA model is without a doubt a top performer for ASA play and it also hit the low compession balls extremely well. Reviewed by Anthony Kelly.

6. These 2007 Miken NRG 500 Maxload Softball Bats pushes the limit to the 98 mph. For the Miken 500 Bats to be ASA certified the Bats can not propel the ball faster than 98 mph.
MIKEN NRG 500 MAXLOAD
PERSONAL REVIEW:

We tested this bat on 4/26/2006. We tested the Maxload version in a 28oz. on a 300 ft. field. We used a mix of Dudley Thunder 375 & 500 compression softballs. The first thing I noticed hitting with the Miken NRG 500 is that it had a very minimal break in period. Within the first 10 - 20 swings this bat was putting a real good charge in the ball. The line drives were really crisp and I hit a good amount of balls over the 300 ft. fence with some of the furthest shots being in the 325 - 335 ft. range. I would say the best feature to the Miken NRG 500 is if you put good backspin on the ball it will carry and carry and clear the fence. I would say that the Miken NRG 500 Bat will be one of the top bats for ASA play in 2006. I would rate this Miken bat a 9.9 for sweet spot and a 9.75 for performance. Reviewed by Anthony Kelly

MIKEN FREAK 98

PERSONAL REVIEW:

We have been testing this bat since it's release. The Miken Freak 98 is definately one of the top ASA approved bats in the game. Good sized sweetspot and the slight end load felt good. A little bit stiff out of the wrapper but after about 80 - 100 hits it starts to get hotter and will only get hotter the more that you hit it. 10 for Durability because we have over 1500 hits on our Miken Freak 98. 1. Miken Super Freak Maxload is new for 2009. The Miken Super Freak is Approved for Usssa, Nsa and Senior Softball.MIKEN SUPER FREAK
 PERSONAL REVIEW:

The Miken Super Freak Maxload is hands down the new #1 bat in all of slowpitch softball. The Super Freak hits the hardest, fastest and furthest balls of any bat that I have ever tested since the Miken Ultra 2 and I personally like the feel of the Super Freak over the Ultra 2 because I prefer the feel of an end loaded bat. The Miken Super Freak is pushing the legal limit in softball and it is right at the 1.20 BPF limit. Reviewed by Anthony Kelly.

TIE.1. Freak: Original Miken FREAK Limited Edition Slowpitch Softball Bat. This Miken Freak bat comes with free ups shipping.MIKEN FREAK 100 BALANCED
PERSONAL REVIEW:

We tested the Miken FREAK Limited Edition on 11-17-2007. We tested a 28oz. model on a 300 ft. field. The temp. was about 60 degrees and it was a nice calm night with very little wind. We used a mix of 375 & 500 compression softballs. We put around 40 hits on the bat prior to shooting the videos to get the bat broken in. I hit first and hit around 35 balls and hit about 20 over the fence and a few hard liners off the fence. The 2nd ball hit in the video actually hit the street at Laurel Creek Park. The street is at about 400 - 410 feet. I have only hit the street a few times and that was with the grey Miken Ultra. The 3rd ball hit the lights in left center field and you can hear it hitting off of the light rack. The Miken FREAK Limited Edition is the exact same as the original 2004 Miken FREAK and has the same amount of pop, sweet spot, line drive performance and home run distance. It is without a doubt one of the very best bats ever and it ranks right up there as one of the top 5 bats ever produced. Reviewed by Anthony Kelly.

  2. 2009 Worth Titan 120 Jeff Hall WORTH TITAN JH120
PERSONAL REVIEW:

Rated #2 hottest USSSA bat in the game by Kellys Ultimate Sports. The Titan Jeff Hall 120 is one of my all time favorite bats. I'd rate this bat a 10 for sweet spot, 10 for feel, 10 for home run distance and a 10 for line drive exit speed. We have over 1000 hits on our bat so i'd say it also very durable. Reviewed by Anthony Kelly.

 3. 2009 Worth Titan 5.4L 120 - Team Resmondo Players ModelWORTH TITAN RESMONDO
 PERSONAL REVIEW:

We have been testing the Worth Titan 120 Resmondo since 3-21-2008. We used a mix of 375 & 500 compression balls. The night that we filmed the video the temp was around 60 degrees with a good wind blowing out to left field. I hit the bat 1st and was hitting the ball out of the park right out of the wrapper. The line drives were hard and the bat put extremely good backspin on the ball, meaning the higher you hit it the further it would go with that good backspin. This bat hit the low compression balls just as good as it hit the high compression balls and I really did not notice any drop off in performance even with the low compression balls. Believe me when I say that this bat will be the top bat for 2008 and you will be extremely pleased with performance of the Worth Titan 120 Resmondo. I would rate this bat a 10 for Line Drive, 10 for Distance and a 10 for Sweet Spot. Reviewed by Anthony Kelly.

    4. Combat Gear Virus Bryson Baker Balanced COMBAT BRYSON BAKER
PERSONAL REVIEW:

We have been testing the Bryson Baker Combat Gear Virus since 5-19-2008. This bat is without a doubt in the top 2-3 bats for usssa in 2008. The line drives through the infield is what really impressed all of us the most. We were all smoking balls right by infielders before they even have a chance to react. The bat also will hit the ball as far as any other bat on the market. The sweet spot is the biggest that I have ever felt on a Combat. I got picked up to play in the Seattle Major tournament on the 4th of July weekend. I was playing with one of the top B teams in the country called the Arizona Canes. I used the Bryson Baker bat all day and did extremely well. I even had a 4-4 game with 3 Home Runs against one of the top A teams in the country C-Town. Reviewed by Anthony Kelly.

  5. Worth Mutant HD 120 Team Resmondo Players ModelWORTH MUTANT RESMONDO
PERSONAL REVIEW:

We have been testing the Worth Mutant HD 120 Resmondo since 4-5-2008. We used a mix of 375 & 500 compression balls. The night that we filmed the video the temp was around 60 degrees with a good wind blowing out to left field. I hit the bat 1st and the 1st two swings fresh out of the wrapper were home runs with the 2nd one being a big shot going around 380-390 foot. The 2nd swing was a good sized home run. The Worth Mutant HD 120 Resmondo is hot right out of the wrapper. The Worth Mutant HD 120 Resmondo has a slight end load that felt great. I really enjoyed testing this bat and had one of my best batting practice rounds ever. I ended up hitting around 25 home runs out of 35 swings with about 7-8 hard line drives and only a few pop ups. I had about 5-6 guys testing this bat with me and everybody was hitting shots out of the park and sizzling liners all over the field. This bat is a must have and will be the #1 slightly end loaded bat for 2008. If you prefer the feel of a slightly end loaded bat over a xtra end loaded or a balanced bat than the Worth Mutant HD 120 Resmondo is the bat for you. I would rate this bat a 10 for Line Drive, 10 for Distance and a 10 for Sweet Spot. Reviewed by Anthony Kelly.

 PERSONAL REVIEW:

We tested the Worth MUTANT 120 Jeff Hall Model on 8/4/07. We tested a 28.5oz model on a 300 ft. field. The temp. was about 80 degrees and it was a calm day with very little wind. We used a mix of Worth Gold & Blue Dots 375 & 500 compression softballs. I took the wrapper off and filmed the video. I had one of my best rounds of batting practice ever with this bat. I hit 35 balls and 22 of them flew over the fence with 3 more hitting the fence and 5 more coming up about 5 feet short. I give all the credit to the Worth MUTANT 120 Jeff Hall bat, this bat will give you that extra 15 - 20 feet that you need to get your warning track fly balls to sail out on a 300 foot field. I liked that the handle had a little bit of flex but not too much flex. The Worth MUTANT 120 Jeff Hall Model is without a doubt the #1 bat in slowpitch softball and also one of the best bats ever made. If you don't have one you will find yourself getting beat by one very soon. Reviewed by Anthony Kelly.

   7. Worth Mayhem 120 Jeff Hall. The Worth Mayhem 120 softball bat pushes the limit Pass 98 mph level with no excuses and no remorse and is too hot to be asa certified.WORTH MAYHEM JH120
 PERSONAL REVIEW:

We have been testing the Worth Mayhem 120 - Jeff Hall Model since 12/21/05. We used a mix of Worth 375 Gold & 500 Blue dots. First thing I have to say about this bat is that it is hot straight out of the wrapper and will only get hotter and hotter the more that it is hit. This is absolutely the best bat produced since the Miken Ultra Maxload. If you prefer the feel of an end loaded bat than this is the bat for you. We had no problem hitting the ball in the 330 - 350 foot range and even the mishit balls were still sailing over the 300 foot fence as well. This bat killed the low compression balls just as good as it killed the high compression balls. I would rate this bat a 10 for Line Drive, 10 for Distance and a 10+ for Sweet Spot. Reviewed by Anthony Kelly.

       8. This Worth Mutant 120 Bat exceeds the 98 mph limit. This Worth 120 bat is too hot and not asa certified. The 120 Bat is approved by usssa.WORTH MUTANT 120
 PERSONAL REVIEW:

We tested the Worth MUTANT 120 on 2-20-2007 in Las Vegas. We tested a 28oz. model on a 300 ft. field. The wind was slightly blowing in from right field. We used the 44/375 Trump optic softballs. The pitching was done by Steve Herd with live commentary by Jim Massey. The hitter is 54 year old Mike Kelly. I hit 20 balls before we turned the camera on to get the feel for this bat and noticed a huge sweetspot which gave me instant confidence to be able to swing hard. The Worth MUTANT 120 has a decent end load and barrel weight which allows the bat to finish through the ball and that meant that I could swing hard to get real good results. This bat has the longest barrel I have seen from Worth in a long time and that along with a decent end load gave the bat a real solid feel when hitting the ball. We hit 200 balls this day with no sign of wear or tear at all. Lots of barrel flex and some handle flex as well. Reviewed by Mike Kelly.

COMBAT GEAR VIRUS
PERSONAL REVIEW:

We have been testing the Combat GEAR VIRUS bat since 9-22-2007. We test a 28oz. model on a 300 foot field. We filmed the video on 11-17-2007 and the temp was about 60 degrees and it was a nice calm night with very little wind. We used a mix of 375 & 500 compression softballs. I have always been a huge fan of Combat bats and the GEAR VIRUS is a definate improvement on previous VIRUS bats. The sweet spot is very big for a short 11 inch barrel bat. probably a 5 - 6 inch sweet spot and even when you miss the ball low down the barrel you can still get a nice solid hit. The durability has been great, we have put around 800 hits on our GEAR VIRUS and is just getting hotter and hotter. The Combat GEAR VIRUS will be one of the top USSSA, NSA bats for 2008. I'm going to run my own Combat team in 2008 and we will be swinging the Combat GEAR VIRUS. Reviewed by Anthony Kelly

 PERSONAL REVIEW:

We tested the Miken T22C6 on 1-3-2007. We tested a 28oz. on a 300 ft. field.
ld. We used a mix of Dudley Thunder 375 & 500 compression softballs. The temp. was around 55 degrees with little to no wind. I absolutely love the feel of the T22C6. My 3 favorite features to this bat are the end load, the thin handle and the huge sweet spot. With the inner titanium shell you will see the ball launch like it's being shot out of a cannon. 10 for Sweet Spot, 10 for Distance and 10 for Line Drives. Reviewed by Anthony Kelly.
