Once in a lifetime opportunity to purchase authentic World War I posters from the personal collection of Frank G. Hess. Commander Hess was the official Veterans of Foreign Wars Department Historian for the state of California 1936 - 1947! On May 18, 1918, he and other members of his gun crew were the FIRST American battery to take down a German plane in France. Other positions include Commander of Olympic Post 2317 for the Los Angeles 1932 Olympics, Commander of multiple VFW posts, and high level positions in the Disabled American Veterans, American Legion, Women’s Ambulance & Defense Corps, Alhambra Auxiliary Police. In addition to military related efforts, Commander Hess was was the official photographer for the California Missions. Above: 1935 Madame Ernestine Schumann-Heink, operatic contralto (check out cigar) & Mayor Frank.Shaw, whose scandals were dramatized in L.A. Confidential and best remembered for his callous response to the catastrophic Los Angeles Flood of 1938.
