About our hoods Quality
At The Metal Peddler, we are very proud of the high quality of our copper range
hoods that are made right here in Pennsylvania. Some features to consider are
the type and thickness of the copper used and how the hood is built and put
together.
Copper used
We use certified copper that is 99.98% pure copper & is free from mercury and any
of its compounds. Trace elements in our copper may include silver. We use only
new, non-recycled copper in the production of our range hoods & other kitchen
copper products. If you purchase a range hood from another supplier, be sure to
request a copy of the quality certificate.
Weight of the copper
We use 48 oz copper in our range hoods, counters and backsplashes. 48 oz
copper is amongst the thickest used for the manufacture of hoods, and while
other manufacturers use thinner copper, we believe that the copper we use creates a stronger &
more durable hood, less likely to suffer dents and dings with every day use.
Welding
We only use a technique of continuous welding of our hood seams, not spot
welding or soldering. Continuous welding produces, by far, the strongest
possible range hood and also ensures that any applied patina or natural color change
is consistent and not affected by soldering materials.
Patina
Every copper range hood we build has the option of a patina - a secret method we use to change your hood to suit modern, olde world or traditional kitchens.
The patina is protected with the highest grade clear lacquer or wax to give a
beautiful, low maintenance finish.
