Wow! We have to admit that we had no idea the demand for refurbished TiVos would be so phenomenal when we started the Tivo Magician.
At first, our practice was to purchase whatever size/brand hard drives we could find on sale through a retail outlet and pass the savings along to you. We still do that with the larger hard drives. We also purchase "new old stock" drives in bulk from resellers. These drives are old, but not used. Our other avenue for hard drives is to use drives from old machines that have been parted-out. We still warranty the drive for 6 months, so if there's a problem, we will replace it. If all of our drives were brand new, we would not be able to sell them as cheaply as we do and still have enough to donate to charity.
We're hoppin' like crazy trying to keep up with the demand for certain hard drive sizes! It seems that as soon as we upload listings for a certain size hard drive on several different types of TiVo boxes, we quickly run out of those hard drives and have to remove the ads. Sometimes, our customers beat us to the punch and we end up being caught empty-handed.
So, we're asking you to do us a favor:
- If you don't see the size hard drive you're looking for — either in a machine, or as a replacement drive, please e-mail us at Tivo_Magician@hotmail.com and let us know. Put WAITING LIST - (hard drive size or unit) in the subject line.
- That way we can let YOU know as soon as we have the item listed again, and you won't have to keep checking back.
