An open letter to potential cutomers,

With three young children and a stay-at-home wife, I used to believe that the best suits I could afford were Boss, Brant, Abboud, Hart Marx and Schaffner and other suits you typically see in the mid/upper-range price from major department stores.  If I was lucky, I might be able to buy a nice $1000+ Zegna, Freeman, etc at an outlet store.  If you are like me, you appreciate quality and, certainly, the aforementioned brands have that.  But more than quality, I appreciate VALUE.  In other words, I don’t mind paying for high quality – but I cannot STAND overpaying for it.  While the cost of goods and quality certainly comprises a large part of the price – I would guess that the department stores’ margins and the marketing dollars that the major labels need to spend, drive the price up considerably.  I used to scan through ebay listings for new suits, jumping right past the Wiz’s listings.  I remember clearly thinking– “yeah, right, a ‘comparable retail of $1595’ for $329.95  - I’ve never even heard of this designer!”

And then I started doing my homework – I was trying to understand which suits the experts considered high value.  I checked AskAndyAboutClothes, and happened to read a review of the Wizard’s suits.  I figured: hey, give it a shot: if this guy is as easy to work with as other say and I find it to be shoddy, I can always return it.

I cannot even begin to express how surprised I was.  These suits really are as good as it gets in terms of value.  I will put them up against any of the suits that I initially mentioned – and they would be crushed.  They can go toe-to-toe with the Armanis, Zegnas and Guccis.  I now fully believe that all of these high-end (can’t really speak to the mega-high-end Brionis, Oxxfords, etc) suits are 50% suit and 50% label.   Other than that .001% of the population that REALLY knows their stuff – NO ONE will notice the difference between these and ANY of the high priced suits that you find in the malls.  But it is not just the appearance of the suit – they really have quality – they have given a considerable amount of attention to detail and I would rather own 5 of these than 1 bespoke suit and then worry about it being breathed on.  Trust me, get past the label-snobbery and you feel like you’ve evolved.  When someone compliments me on any of my Marco Valentino suit – I love telling them how much I paid for it.  I think that is much more impressive than the suit itself.

I am incredibly satisfied with the outstanding customer service that the Wiz provides.  He is getting swamped as word gets out – so, please, be patient.  This guy is offering what I believe to be the finest value in men’s suits to be had.  Jeff works extremely hard to satisfy his customers – and us value-hounds can be a handful sometimes – but, again, work with him and I can promise you will be happy with the results.  I now own 8 of his suits, with another on the way.

Thank you so much for the suit.  Sorry I didn't get a reply earlier but I took the suit immediately to the tailor.  An altered suit vs one that's not altered is like night vs day!  The suit looks and feels amazing!  I wish I could leave you feedback on eBay.  I am very glad you were able to swap the pants to an 8" drop to a 42" for me, it is perfect.  I will be back sooner than you think and I'm telling everybody about how amazing this suit is!

As for the pants – you were correct; they are certainly more on the form fitting side!  But, as you thought, pretty good for me.  I may have to let the seat out a little (maybe a ¼”) but the waist and legs are perfect.  I suspect that had I gone for the 40R I would have had to have had more work needed on the jacket and pants anyway – I’d rather let out ¼” in the seat rather than try to take in 2” on the waist. 

And as always appreciate the care taken in sending the package, came through customs easily and without surprises.

Hello Jeff,

            UPS just delivered your package containing the suit, shirt and tie I ordered. Jeff, I am simply in awe of the quality of all three products. The 42L fits perfectly, the shirt does as well and the tie goes great with both. I am a “happy camper” and I thank you for your great website, your courteous and prompt service, and for the really nice garment bag you provided. I might add that the actual product looks as good, or better, as the photos you provide on your website.

            I had two suits made in Hong Kong while we were there on vacation and while they are excellent quality, the Marco Valentino wool and cashmere suit is every bit as good at a much lower cost to me. I will be ordering again from you and will tell all my guy friends of your great store.

 Jeff, I received the suits Friday and took them to a tailor on Saturday. I must say, I could not be more pleased! The jackets were perfectly tailored--not a single alteration was necessary. Tailoring of the pants was minimal. Thanks, once again, for your help! I will recommend you to friends and family without reservation.

Suits came into the office today!  I can't begin to tell you how pleased I am, and thank you for the bonus tie.  I can't get over the fact that I paid a staggering ****** for the charcoal Valentino suit that fits, feels, looks and is constructed far better than anything I've ever paid four or five times as much for (ie my Strellson suit).  The jacket requires almost zero alteration - you're correct that the pants are half a size smaller - and the cut is exactly what I was looking for.  I'm kicking myself that I didn't pick up the navy one, too.

Anyway, I'm thrilled with everything.  Needless to say you'll be my go-to guy when it comes to both suits for myself as well as my cruise clients or anyone else who might ask me.  I'm going to write an article on our blog relating to dress codes/formal wear on ships - this is one of the most common questions we're asked besides alcohol policies - and I'm going to put a blurb in there about you, if that's okay.  If you have anything you'd like me to quote and have me stick in there, let me know :-D

Can you get the Italian Olive in the 3 button with the pleated pants?  Also, can you get the brown shadow in the 2 button with the pleated pants?  If so, send them to me and bill me for the extra suit.  I need both in a 52L.  I have a feeling I am going to be ordering a lot of suits from you.  When i took the first one into my tailor I asked him what the value was.  His name is Mario and he is native Italian. He speaks very little English but I speak Italian so it works fine.  He initially said the suit was worth about $300. I thought, what the hell, I got what I paid for.  When I came back to pick it up, he said, "I was wrong on the value. Once I started taking the suit apart it became obvious that it was worth much more.  I asked him how much and he said at least $1,000.  I think your suits are a great deal.  Thanks.

Jeff, Just got the suit back from my tailor and wanted to past a couple of comments along to you.First, the jacket fit perfectly, no alterations needed.  Everything was great, the tailor was as surprised as I was.  The pants just needed the waist and seat to be taken it a little.The tailor was very impressed with both the styling and the quality of the material.  He was familiar with the designer and had nothing but nice things to say about him.  I am very happy that I choose the silk / wool material, it looks great and, of course, the Italian styling is very classy.Thanks again, Tim

You were right about UPS. The tracker went straight to delivered, with no updates in between. Seems like a great suit! Shoulder pads are slightly OTT for my taste, but the suit as a whole is lovely and will more than do the trick. Is there any way I can leave you 5-star feedback on ebay?
