Thompson's Garage is a store for traditional rods and customs. We are into traditional hot rods, rat rods and 50's & 60's style customs. We have been building these types of cars for several years and have found it sometimes difficult to find shops that would help us. So we started our own. We want to have a shop that you can go to when building these types of cars. We are selecting our vendors and the line of parts we are going to carry carefully. We want the vendors to be into the same types of cars as our shop. You won't find any billet here. We are currently building an inventory and hitting a couple of shows to get a feel for the store. During the winter months we will be adding items to our Ebay store (check often) and will be starting a couple of new rat rods for the summer. For more information you can reach us at

My ride is a 41 Ford pick-up that has been heavily modified. We are using all the parts from our store to build the chassis and some of the finishing accessories other than that there's been a lot of cutting, welding and grinding. The wheel base has been shortened to 108'' with the bed being shortened 18''. The cab has been chopped 7'' and channeled 10''. We are using an original '37 Ford frame with a straight crossmember, super slider spring & dropped I-Beam axle. The truck sits 3'' of the ground at all times. I want to drive this truck on daily basis so I put a 350 chevy in for reliability. It has a 69 crossram manifold with (2) 4 barrel's and open headers. We installed a set of Oldsmobile valve covers, since they were the only ones that fit with the manifold. It really fools people. There are many other modifications, so look for it in the summer of 2006.

My brothers ride consists of parts of a Model A welded together to make our own body. We started with some doors and a cowl we found on ebay and started chopping and welding to get what you see. It is a roadster pick up that is only 38'' off the ground. It will have a Model A frame from the firewall forward and a custom rectangular tubing frame from there back. It is using a super slider spring & dropped axle mounted suicide style. The center of the windshield on this truck is 4-1/2'' tall. For power we went with something different, a Slant Six from a 70 Duster. It will be unique. We will also be using many parts from our store on this chassis. There's going to be a lot more cutting, grinding, and welding on this one so look for it in the summer of 2006.
