Tropicalbloom Handcrafted Wood
After being introduced to the lathe by his grandfather many years ago, John has recently rediscovered the joy of handcrafting wood items. He uses the lathe as his primary tool, but his work is sometimes done off the lathe. John carves, burns, textures and dyes some pieces in order to further bring forth the beauty in the wood. He is a member of Gulf Coast Woodturners Association, American Association of Woodturners and the Wood Turning Center and has won numerous awards through the GCWA contests. John enjoys sharing the process of creation and hopes that by sharing it another generation will carry on the art and craft of wood turning.
John loves working with wood; how it feels, how it smells. Above all, he derives great joy in taking this gift of nature and adding the human touch to create beauty.

| A Note on Wood
John uses many rare tropical hardwoods in the creation of his items. When possible he buys small pieces of wood and cutoffs that otherwise might be discarded. John feels this best uses this natural treasure. He also uses a substantial amount of reclaimed lumber. New housing developments and tree trimmers have been great sources for this wood that would otherwise clog our landfills. John has a vested interest in forest conservation and works toward a balance in the stewardship of this resource.
