TEMPUR-PEDIC® BEDS: THE TRUTH ABOUT DISCOUNT ALTERNATIVES

This free guide exposes tricks that are used to mislead people who are not educated about memory foam.

TRICK 1: CONCEALING CHINESE MEMORY FOAM

Companies who sell Chinese foam rarely reveal where their foam is made. The most common mistake that people make is accidentally buying memory foam that is made in China.

In the past, we sold beds that were made with imported foam. We stopped because of inconsistent quality.

Initially, imported beds may look and feel the same, but differences in the quality may be evident in the first six to eighteen months. As the foam breaks down, the bed gets softer and people complain that it feels like they're sleeping in a hole.

Importers bring in both fully assembled mattresses and sheets of foam called cores from China. These companies often give video tours and show pictures of their factories on their websites so that people assume that the foam is American made.

These companies don't own overseas factories where they can control the quality. Importers choose factories based on the cheapest price.

To remain competitive, some factories cut corners. Memory foam is sold by weight and it's possible to use fillers to increase the weight. Like other products Made In China, importers don't know what materials or chemicals a factory substitutes. The safety and quality of Chinese memory foam is questionable.

TRICK 2: EXOTIC MATERIALS AS FILLERS

Exotic materials are quilted into the covers of some brand's beds to cover up inconsistencies in the quality of imported memory foam. These companies use their American factories to assemble mattresses made with materials like bamboo, wool, aloe, and silk.

The fillers are quilted into the cover to act as a buffer between people's bodies and the imported memory foam. If these companies were using American made foam, the exotic materials wouldn't be necessary. It's cheaper for them to import foam and other exotic materials, than it is to make beds with quality American-made foam.

TRICK 3: FALSE COMPARISONS

The overall height of a mattress should never be used as a basis for comparison. The comparison needs to be based on the actual amount and density of the memory foam.

For arguments sake, we break down our competitor's 10" Mattress. They compare their bed to The DeluxeBed by Tempur-Pedic™.

  • Question: How many inches of 5.3lb memory foam does your mattress contain?
  • Answer: There are 3" of 5.3lb memory foam.
  • Question: We noticed that the quilted top has another 1/2" of memory foam. Is this also 5.3lb density?
  • Answer: No. This is a lower density memory foam.

Thicker base foam and lower-density memory foam were used to increase the height. These materials are less expensive than 5.3lb memory foam and don't add to the overall quality of the bed.

Truthfully, their mattress should be compared with The OriginalBed by Tempur-Pedic™. The OriginalBed by Tempur-Pedic™ is built with 3" of 5.3lb memory foam. The DeluxeBed by Tempur-Pedic™ is constructed with 4" of 5.3lb memory foam.

TRICK 4: IS THE IN HOME TRIAL RISK FREE?

With our Risk-Free 90 Day Trial, our buyers pay a flat fee and are not responsible for any packaging or shipping costs. To avoid the risks of most company's return policies, ask these questions up front:

  • Do you have a return policy?
  • Exactly how much will it cost to return the bed?

If a company states that buyers are responsible for the shipping charges, it's almost always a gimmick.

Most companies ship their mattresses compressed via UPS or FedEx. Once their package is open, the bed needs to be returned via a freight company. The freight charges can be more expensive than it is to actually keep the mattress. In addition, these companies don't supply their customers with packaging materials.

TRICK 5: FAKE TESTIMONIALS

We feature our products on Ebay because it provides a system for Unbiased Feedback. Buyers post their comments directly, so that you can read other people’s honest opinions about our customer service and the quality of our products.

Other websites use Testimonials, which are hardly an accurate depiction of their customers’ experience. Testimonials are uploaded by employees of the website. They are edited and it’s likely that many of them are written by employees.

If a person was unhappy, do you think that the company would post negative comments on its own website?
