ANSWERS to FAQ's about FRAGRANCES
What is the differences between Eau de Toilette, Eau de cologne, Perfume, and Eau de Parfum?
Each of these fragrances are different from the concentration of oils in each type. These fragrances also come in a variety of ways that can be applied to the body.
Perfume has the highest concentration of oils. It consists of 15-30% concentration of oil. The higher the concentration means, less amount of fragrance is needed to be applied to the body. Also the fragrance will last longer; usually up to 6 hours, depending on certain conditions.
Next would be Eau de Parfum. It consists of 8-15% concentration and is typically lighter than Perfume. The fragrances labeled with this tend to be less expensive but still have the same effects like a Perfume, around 3 to 5 hours.
The third on the list is Eau de Toilette. Usually this type of fragrance is made for everyday usage. They contain about 4-8% of concentration. They last around 2 to 4 hours.
The last on the list is Eau de Cologne. Mostly diluted and usually the cheapest, it has a concentration of 3-5%. This fragrance can be expect to last 2 to 3 hours.

Why do fragrances contain alcohol?
Alcohol is what makes the fragrance emanate. It helps the fragrance travel through the air and into our noses by evaporating. Try applying to the pulse points of the body so that the fragrance will smell stronger and last longer.

What do fragrance notes refer to?
There are alot of different ingredients that make up a fragrance. These different ingredients make up different scents. Notes refer to these different scents. All fragrances have top, middle and bottom notes. As time goes by, these notes are activated. Top notes are the lighter scents that hit your nose first, only lasting 5 to 10 minutes. After that, your nose is invaded by the middle note. Middle notes are activated in about 15 to 30 minutes after the top notes. Bottom notes are the last types of scents that you can smell. They are made with the heaviest ingredients and last the longest, around 1 or more hours.

Why do fragrances smell differently on others?
Fragrances smell differently on different people because body chemistry, diet, and age. Fragrances consist of many different oils. Certain oils are made of ingredients that can absorb in our skin while other ingredients cannot. This causes the fragrance imbalance, therefore making everyone smell differently.

What is the best place(s) on the body to apply the fragrance?
The best place(s) to apply fragrances are on our pulse points. These pulse points are located on the wrist, behind the ear, and base of the throat. By applying the fragrances here, the pulse points helps emanate the scents into the air because these areas generate more heat than other parts of the body. This causes the essential oils in the fragrances to warm up and evaporate, therefore producing a stronger scent.

How long do fragrances last on people?
Fragrances last depending on skin types. The oils our bodies produce, helps moisturize our skin. These oils mix with the fragrance. Depending on whether or not the skin absorbs the fragrance oils determines how long the fragrance will last. Fragrances tend to last around 4 hours or less. But as time goes on, they will smell differently because of your body chemistry. You can always re-apply the fragrance, at least once or twice a day.

What is the different between a retail box and a tester?
There is virtually NO difference. Testers are made by the manufacturers to help promote their fragrances to consumers. These testers are made from the exact same ingredients as the retail fragrances. The only difference with retail box and testers is the way they are packaged. Most testers are sold UN-USED (Not tested) but have missing caps or have a non-retail box. Testers are a great way to save money because you are getting the same quality of fragrance at a lower price.

How do I keep my fragrance(s) longer and/or from going bad?
To keep your fragrance lasting longer and from going bad is to store it in a good place. One way is to keep the bottle in a dark, dry and cool area. Avoid excessive heat or cold. Make sure your lid is tight and there are no cracks on the bottle. This keeps it from evaporating. Also, make sure you keep the fragrance in a box or not so open area. Some fragrances are either sprays or splashes. Sprays tend to last longer because the caps are sealed. Splashes are capped fragrances, and you just dab a few drops on your body.
