Frequently Asked Questions
Q:How do you protect these fragile items during shipment?
A:Each ad is individually protected inside a 2 mil plastic envelope which is then securely sealed inside a heavy cardboard shipping tube. This is the same method often used for shipping artwork and expensive drawings safely. We have succesfully shipped thousands of vintage ads worldwide using this proven method.
Q:Is there a guarantee?
A:You bet there is! Every single thing we have said here must be true – so must every representation made in our description and picture(s) of the item. You have a three day inspection period. If we fail in any of these areas you are entitled to your money back. We Guarantee It!
Q:When can I expect my order to arrive?
A:Most item(s) leave here the next business day after payment is received. Standard shipping is via USPS First Class Mail with Delivery Confirmation. This is plenty fast for most customers. Priority Mail & Express Mail are available at higher cost. Check shipping rates at the bottom of the eBay listing.
Q:What do you mean “original”?
A:Each and every item we represent as original was printed years ago on or before the date used in the descriptive eBay title – it is NOT a reproduction or copy of any kind. It is old. It has a history. It is an item that was published long ago – unchanged and unaltered except for the inevitable effects of aging. It is an “original.”
Q:What is on the reverse side of this advertisement?
A:Original print ads usually have additional text and/or pictures on the reverse side. Almost all magazines, and most promotional pieces, were printed on both sides of every page. Many consider the content on the reverse side to be a reliable indicator of authenticity.
Q:Can you send me a more detailed scan?
A:No! We do not sell copies of any kind and are not anxious to give away what we are in business to sell. The images appearing with our eBay items are designed to foster quick loading of the picture while still providing a fair representation of the item being offered.
Q:You have some interesting ads – where do you get them?
A:We spend much time, and a lot of money, searching the world to find vintage publications containing ads people want. We do not buy ads in bulk, but insist on carefully separating each and every item from its original source ourselves. This contributes to quality and ensures authenticity. Premium prices are often paid for especially desirable items
Q:How do you know how old this is?
A:Most ads are dated from the cover date of the publication in which they originally appeared.
Q:What is a "Print Feature"?
A:Most of the items we sell can properly be classified as "Print Ads". Occasionally Magazines and other print ad sources feature articles or photographs or promo pieces that are not advertisements in the strict sense. If we feel that ebay users might be interested in such an item, we list it and use the phrase "Print Feature" in the description.
Q:Why is your item description text so brief?
A:Vintage Ad Service was started specifically to present quality vintage ads in a time respecting format. Extensive information is available in our store using the links provided.
