Vintage Views provides consignment and consulting services for individuals and businesses seeking to sell their inventory online. Owned and operated by Christopher Nowak of Hoboken, NJ, we provide on-site service in the metro New York area, but can help clients located anywhere in the continental U.S. Since 2003 we have sold over 2,300 items online to customers in thirty countries. We provide our clients with unmatched worldwide exposure with listings in four leading online markets for vintage and antique furnishings, fine art, collectibles and luxury goods: eBay, Trocadero, GoAntiques, and Vintage and Modern. Consignment Services
Unlike consignment shops and auction houses, we do not take possession of your merchandise. For local clients, we provide on-site service from start to finish, including digital photography, research and appraisal, and pickup, packing and shipping after the sale. Clients outside our local area are required to provide digital photographs. There are no up-front costs. Following each sale we deduct all accrued fees and commissions from our payment to the client. Local clients are paid at time of item pickup or dropoff, and remote clients are paid via escrow service once item shipment is confirmed.
Packing & Shipping
Small sale items to be shipped within the U.S. may be dropped off at your local UPS Store at no cost. Small items to be shipped outside the U.S. may be dropped off in Hoboken at no cost, or we can complete pickup for a modest fee ($0.60 per mile plus tolls). For large sale items there is never a charge for carrier pickup. Customers have full return and refund privileges for small items only, so for such items we recommend clients delay cashing our payment check until customer receipt and acceptance has been confirmed.
Consignment Costs and Requirements
For $4.00 per item per month, we provide fixed-price listings in at least three of the four markets where we sell. (Some items may not be appropriate for all markets.) We also offer optional seven-day eBay auctions for $5.00 per item, plus reserve price fee equal to 1.0% of the reserve price. Commissions are detailed in the chart on the right side of this page. In addition, remote clients are required to pay all escrow service fees which vary based on sale price and can total as much as 3.25% of the sale price. (Please visit www.escrow.com for more information.) We require a six month online commitment and non-refundable payment of the first six months of listing fees (totaling $24) prior to launch. All sales are final and must be completed in accordance with our customer satisfaction policy. Refusal to complete a sale will result in termination and possible legal action. We require exclusivity in the markets where we compete. We retain ownership and copyright protection of our digital images, but clients may use our images for any reason for a modest fee. We have different requirements and reduced rates for dealers and business clients. Please call or email for more information.
Appraisals
For PayPal members we are now offering item appraisals for $45. To receive an appraisal by email with printed copy on letterhead by mail, forward digital images to vintageviews@optonline.net, along with a detailed item description, plus a $50 PayPal payment. We will then check the two leading internet sale databases, plus all of the relevant online markets to locate current asking prices from dealers around the globe. Within 48 hours we will summarize our findings in an email to you. Images must be in focus and should include closeup shots of any distinguishing features such as hallmarks, damages and repairs. Descriptions should include dimensions, provenance (original purchase price, seller name and location if known), and any details which are not clearly shown in the images provided. For exceptional works of decorative and fine art from listed artists, we can also include findings from the Artnet auction database for an additional $45.

Our owner and founder, Christopher Nowak, obtained his MBA from Duke University and has over twenty years of business management and marketing experience. Prior to launching Vintage Views he worked as a Senior Brand Manager on the Dr. Scholl's and Coppertone brands at Schering-Plough, where he launched the company's first integrated online marketing campaign for a non-prescription brand, Coppertone Kids. Vintage Views has served a variety of clients, including dealers with stand-alone galleries and those with inventory at the finest cooperative galleries, including The Showplace, Manhattan Art & Antiques Center, and Lafayette Warehouse in New York, Shippan Center for Arts & Antiques and Harbor View Center in Stamford, and Riverbank Antiques in Red Bank. Consulting clients have included the world-famous New York Doll Hospital, Leo Scarlet (former President, American Stamp Dealers Association), Textileshop.com, Swangrove International, and LittleGifts Inc.
