Looking for Virginia ancestors? Getting tired of paying BIG BUCKS for books, cds, and other sources which usually contain only a page or two, sometimes no more than a line or two, about the family or individual you are researching? Then you have come to the right place!
"Virginia's Descendants" compiles information on Virginia immigrants and their descendsants from MANY different sources into one file, using the Family Tree Maker 2006, Version 16 genealogy program. We do not compile mere lists of names and dates, but include all the interesting material we locate on the immigrant and his descendants. Information we gather includes, but is not limited to the following: court cases; residences; employment; education; descriptions of homes; physical traits; personalities; extracts or transcriptions of deeds, wills, administration of estates; obituaries; celebration announcements; personal correspondence; and even contemporary reports of gossip circulating about individuals during their lifetimes. And we offer these colorful genealogy files on copyright-protected cd-roms to the descendants of Virginia's immigrants for a fraction of what it would cost them to obtain the material on their own.
There are three cd formats available for most immigrant files: FTM Backups, PDF files, and Gedcoms. In addition to having a cd-rom drive on your computer each format has its own requirements.
The information on the FTM Backup CD must be restored to the Family Tree Maker 2006 (Version 16) for Windows 98/ME/XP to be accessed.
The Gedcom CD must be imported into a genealogy program which supports importing gedcom files.
The Adobe Acrobat reader is required to view a PDF File CD. The PDF format is modeled after the PostScript language and is device and resolution independent. The Family Report pages in the PDF format can be viewed, navigated and printed from your workstation using the freely available Acrobat Reader software from Adobe Systems Inc. Versions of Acrobat Reader run on Windows, Macintosh and Unix systems.
