WELCOME TO THE TAN STARFISH PAGE!

THIS SPECIES STARFISH IS A GREAT STARFISH FOR CRAFTS, SCRAP BOOKING, WEDDING DECORATIONS AND MUCH MORE. THIS STARFISH SPECIES IS KNOWN TO ARRIVE WITH MISSING OR BROKEN POINTS, WE ALWAYS DO OUR BEST TO PULL THE WORST OF THEM OUT BUT SOMETIMES DEPENDING ON THE SIZE WE MAY MISS SOME BADLY DAMAGED ONES. THIS IS WHY WE HAVE ALWAYS ADDED EXTRA TO THE BAGS OF THESE SPECIES STARFISH. WE DO NOT CONSIDER A TAN STARFISH MISSING A SMALL PIECE OF IT'S POINT A BROKEN STARFISH IF IT IS MISSING MULTIPLE POINTS THEN WE DO OUR BEST TO REMOVE THEM. WE HAVE CRAFTERS AND WEDDING PLANNERS THAT USE THEM NO MATTER WHAT THEY LOOK LIKE. SOMETIMES THEY ARE DAMAGED IN THE WATER BY HUNGRY OTHER FISH SOMETIMES THEY BREAK IN SHIPPING. THIS IS WHY AS LONG AS WE HAVE OFFERED THIS ITEM WE HAVE ALWAYS ADDED 5 OR MORE TO EVERY BAG EXTRA. OUR SUPPLIERS DO NOT SEND US EXTRA AND WE PAY FOR THEM WITH MISSING POINTS OR WHOLE, SO THIS IS HOW WE OFFER THEM. WE THANK YOU FOR LOOKING AND BUYING AND HOPE YOU ADD US TO YOUR FAVORITES.

The very common Tan Starfish is a member of the Oreasteridae Family and is characterized by its large narrow rays with a dull brown to orange surface. The arms of the Tan Starfish are tan with numerous lateral pores embedded in an orange streak. The tube feet lack suckers.

The Tan Starfish reaches a maximum of just over 1 foot in size and is found over sandy bottoms to 500 feet. It feeds on microfauna, bethic algae, seagrass and other animal matter including echinoderms.
Along the Pacific side of the Sea of Cortez south of Magdalena Bay, in the lower two-thirds of the Sea of Cortez, along the coast of the mainland south to Guatemala, and around all oceanic islands.

The Tan Starfish is a common member of a class of animals known as Echinoderms. The Echinoderms appeared 600 million years ago and form a group of marine animals consisting of approximately 6,000 living species. Brittle stars, sand dollars, sea cucumbers, sea urchins and starfish are all Echinoderms, with radial symmetry and a five-part body plan.
