General Interest

We follow the standard practices of the Flute Industy.  We ask that you follow these practices as well when doing business with us.


Our instruments are not set up for audition periods on EBAY.  It is difficult to do so.  If you must have an audition period please contact us via our store Winds101.  We provide 3-5 day acceptance periods for instruments purchased directly through our Winds101 store.  Please note than any brand new sealed in box instrument is not returnable.

We will accept a return if you find the instrument misrepresented (seriously, more than a tiny scratch on a used instrument). Please contact us at 248 885 2583 with any questions or issues.


Our technician is a very well known and respected certified Straubinger pad technician.  He is very careful, and every instrument goes through our technician before we ship to our customres, hence we are not often the fastest shippers in the business.

Our customers rarely have any issues with our instruments however things can happen in shipping, such as a spring pop which will make a key not move up or down.  Often we can "troubleshoot" instrument issues via phone, such as a spring pop.


We encourage our customers not familiar with flutes or clarinets to have the instrument reviewed by a teacher or professional technician.  Technician's and other dealers's policies and prices vary greatly just as any service provider (house, car, etc).

The practice in the musical business industry is to take your instrument, provide you with a pick up date and slip.  The store or technician will take your instrument, and conduct a review.  The technician may make a minor tweek however most likely will check out the mechanics, pads and corks.

In general, you may expect a $50 - $100 "shop charge" bill when you pick up your instrument.  The technician must be paid for his or her time.  They may make a few adjustments, as every techncial person views a mechanical instrument through their own eyes. 

We recommend you get a firm quote from the technician prior to authorizing any work.  At times, customers can be "taken" for large sums of money when in fact little to nothing has been done to their instrument. You must do your homework, and be knowledgeable regarding what the best shops charge or entire overhauls.  You do not want to be charged for an enitre overhaul for seating of one pad.

If you are presented with issues by your technician, you may call us for assistance at any time.  Once work has been done, we have little to no ability to assist you and you may be liable for a large unwarranted bill.


Please note, we cannot accept a return once the instrument has been taken to band, orchestra, or modified in any way including cleaning, polishing, minor adjustments, tweeks, etc.

Should your tech find something of concern, please have your technician contact us prior to performing any work. 

Once any type of work is done by another person we will not accept a return no matter who the technician.
