Yardbird Classic Trains is a full-time business dedicated to keeping
the rich heritage of model railroading alive by supplying
parts for many models, especially from the vintage years of our hobby. We began in
2001, and have established scores of contacts along the way. We have parts
for many of the cast vintage steam locomotives, as well as some of the older diesels. Over
the years of locomotive repair, and as an authorized Mantua service center, we have
encountered many of the situations that arise with HO models. We understand the
frustration that can tag along with the problems, especially not finding suitable parts needed.
Some of the brands we supply parts for are Varney, John A. English,
Penn Line, early Bowser, and Mantua/Tyco, among others. Please check our
store often to see what's available at any given time. We
constantly purchase from outside sources, so as we find it, we include it in our stock.
Most of the parts we carry are either new/oldstock or slightly used in excellent condition,
so you can be assured your locomotives will be back to the
original condition as when they were new. If/when used parts are listed, they are completely
cleaned, bead blasted when applicable, and thoroughly checked out to ensure they are
free from defects and will function as they should. The item description will indicate
the condition of our parts so you always know what you are buying.
All of our parts come with a full guarantee, whether it is a screw
or a motor. Parts carry a full one year warranty, and motors have a 90 day warranty.
If you EVER have a question about a part you purchased from us, please contact us.
Our mission statement is simple: If something doesn't work for you, it doesn't work for us.
Our aim is be part of the solution to your problem, not part of the problem.
Please note that we have helped many customers over the years who
purchased various "used" parts for their locomotives, only to
find that the items were much less than satisfactory to repair
their problem. While there are several areas of the locos where
well-used items may be adequate, there are many areas, including
the mechanism, rods, linkage, motors, electrical, trucks &
wheels, gears, etc., where a used, worn part can hinder the
operating condition. There are some good used parts available,
but please use caution, search the pictures and descriptions,
and ask questions before purchasing any used item that
may cause a problem in any area of the locomotive's performance.
By the way, many times sellers are not aware of these problems
either, so it is really up to the buyer to be careful when
making a purchase for “used” parts.
We welcome customer input!
