In an effort to cut municipal expenditures, City of Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano announced his Comprehensive Asset Reduction Schedule or “C.A.R.S.” policy on February 1st, 2012. During the initial phase of the C.A.R.S. initiative, 40 take home cars were removed from active use which collectively saved the city over 100,000 miles in take home usage.
“While we look at the City’s current budget, we are constantly evaluating all of the city’s resources and look for ways to eliminate wasteful spending,” says Mayor Spano. “Although these initial policies are not budget busters, it sends a message to Yonkers taxpayers that cost-cutting is a shared sacrifice for us all and we all must be held accountable for city expenses.”
The YonkersCARStore is next phase of Mayor Spano’s C.A.R.S. policy and will serve as the one stop shop for all city vehicles and property that has been deemed surplus; our vault items to be auctioned on eBay range from cars to cameras to computers and more. The Mayor is opening the City’s Mosler Safe Co. vault for business on Wednesday, June 27th. The YonkersCARStore will be managed by the Office of the Mayor and will be updated periodically with new items so be sure to check back frequently and add our store to your list of favorite sellers.
