Please remember that a store on eBay pays recurring monthly "rent" just like a brick and mortar store.
We pay monthly charges for the right to sell on eBay. We also pay fees for listing each individual item for a 30 day period. To relist ,we again pay a recurring fee for each additional 30 day listing period.
Upgrades such as photo enhancements, subtitles, etc. pay added fees.
When sold, a final value eBay fee is charged on the retail selling price of the item. Also, we now are charged an eBay % fee on all shipping charges shown on your invoice. IF we charge the actual fee to ship what is charged by our shipper, WE LOSE MONEY, because eBay collects a % of the actual shipping charged in the transaction.
Also, as you pay thru Paypal, an eBay owned company, the payment is charged a % fee based on the price of the item sold PLUS the shipping charged.
In reality, we are doubled "taxed" as the sale progresses. We acknowledge that this is the cost of operating a business. We are only hoping that the buyers realize that we are not making near the profit that sometimes, they mistakenly believe, the seller is reaping.
All fees thru USPS, and all other sources that we must use to operate, have risen every year, without fail, while sales have suffered thru the economic downturn.
