Like bees, birds and butterflies, North American bats are dying in record numbers. When Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice director Zack Snyder heard that bats are in trouble, he knew he wanted to do something to help. Zack contacted the Organization for Bat Conservation, located just down the street from the set, to see how the film could support the organization’s Save the Bats campaign. The result? More than 100 bat houses built out of the set by cast and crew to give bats safe and happy homes and to help raise funds for the campaign. Get your Movie Set Bat House and own a piece of the set and help save bats before it’s too late.
Save the Bats Campaign
The Save the Bats campaign is a national effort from the Organization for Bat Conservation designed to inspire people and provide fun and simple tools people can use to save bats. The campaign started in 2014 in response to the mass die offs of North American bats from White-nose Syndrome, a deadly fungus that spreads quickly and easily from bat to bat. Support for Save the Bats helps increase healthy places for bats to live and eat, encourage kids to protect wildlife as they grow, and connect families to nature. Through workshops, digital guides and social media efforts, Save the Bats gives the public a chance to make a real difference in the health of our environment.
