Cookie Johnson is a devoted philanthropist, child advocate and spokesperson for women’s health. She serves as Secretary of the Board of Directors for the Magic Johnson Foundation. She addresses the health, social and educational needs of those residing in underserved communities and is involved in the development of the Foundation’s overall goals, objectives and programs.
A businesswoman at heart, Cookie launched her premium denim line, Cj by Cookie Johnson in 2009. Finally, a dream comes true for this jean fanatic who couldn’t find jeans to fit her body type. Realizing her testimony was that of many women, she created a versatile fit for women with real bodies. This was the beginning of a new revolution in the denim industry; Cj is currently sold at Nordstrom, Bloomingdales and Neiman Marcus.

The Magic Johnson Foundation works to develop programs and support community-based organizations that address the educational, health and social needs of ethnically diverse, urban communities.
Founded in 1991, the Magic Johnson Foundation (MJF) has become one of the most recognizable nonprofit, 501(c) 3 charitable organizations around the world. Over the past few years, the MJF has awarded more than $1.1 million to community-based organizations that focus on HIV/AIDS education and prevention and established five HIV/AIDS clinics.
Additionally, the Foundation has supported more than 850 minority high school students with college scholarships (many through the organization’s Taylor Michaels Scholarship Program), opened 18 Magic Johnson Community Empowerment Centers located in underserved communities across the country, and provides a range of community-based initiatives including an annual Children’s Mardi Gras and annual holiday party.
