Tips on Touch Up Paint
(Brush Tip Application)
It is one of the best
and simplest application technique with best results proven. Even the
professional auto repairs use the same application method. But of course we
comprehend the hassle of the traditional way, therefore we modified it into a
much more simple way to speed up the repair time and result the same good
refinish.
Wash and clean away all
grit and grime, then rinse with water on the spot.
Let the area dry
naturally or towel dry it with a new Tack Rag cloth. (It is available in our
store)
Shake thoroughly the
touch up paint in the bottle before untwist the brush-tip applicator to make
sure the paint pigment is well combined and ready for use.
Apply first coat of
paint to the affected area. Brush on in even strokes (use dabbing motions),
working from side to side.
Wait for 5 minutes.
Use a piece of Tack Rag
cloth to wipe on the spot or scratch from one end to another. When applying,
force gentle pressure with the Tack Rag and move along the scratch with rubbing
motion. Until you have formed a flatten surface.
Then apply second coat
in the same manner. Wait for another 5 minutes and ''apply Tack Rag procedure as
above".
Apply as many coats
necessary to fill the depth of the area and wait 5 minutes between each coat
application.
And remember, use
dabbing motion to result the best even layers.
Let the paint dry for 6
hours.
Note: *** DO NOT wet
sand or use prep solvent in between coats of touch up paint or clearcoat. ***
Blend in the color
(Spot Repairing)
You must blend in the
new touch up paint with the original paint color surrounding the repaired area
in order to achieve the closest color match.
Please allow at least 6
hours after the final layer of base coat application before applying clearcoat.
Apply 2-3 coats of
clearcoat using a light brushing motion waiting 20 minutes in between each coat.
Be gentle with the brush because you do not want to disturb the touch up paint
layer's reflection and Clearcoat will be completely dry overnight.
Apply Rubbing Compound
(also available in our store) on a sponge, rub the Rubbing Compound over to the
area where you have applied touch up paint and clearcoated surface by mild
gentle force in circular motion until you see the Rubbing Compound developed a
haze form on top of the coat.
Now wipe off all the
haze from the Rubbing Compound residue with a clean Tack Rag cloth. This will
restore the gloss of shine. It also hardens the touch up paint layer as a shield
of impact protection.
Wax refinish after
another 6 hours to bring out optimum level of gloss.
About Clear Coat
All touch up paint we
mix require to be clearcoated for proper gloss shine, match, and durability.
Clearcoat is one of the most important stages of a great touch up. It can be
water sanded and compounded with Rubbing Compound for a better blend-in. Our
clear coat also provides a more uniform finish that matches to your original
paint.
