FIFTH AVENUE BOOKS
Time Life Series list of titles
We at FIFTH AVENUE BOOKS take great pride in our customer service and satisfaction. we carry a wide variety of new and used books in many different catagories. Our goal at FIFTH AVENUE BOOKS is not to be the largest book store but the best. There are many so-called book sellers on e-bay and on-line that look for profit without regard for their customers needs or wants. Many of these companies list books at or below cost and sneak in the back door with high shipping and handling costs to make up the difference. Many times they ship the book late because they rely on a third party to stock and ship for them resulting in mis-communication and in alot of cases upset customers with no books. We stock everything we sell and if for some reason we run out or a book gets damaged or is not up to our standards we will aquire the book from an outside source (even if it's from one of our competitors) whether we take a loss or not as long as we can provide our customers with the book that they require in a timely manor. Communication is the key to all success in our opinion and we will try to keep our customers truthfully informed of all aspects of our dealings. If there is a book/s that we do not have listed that you need or see elsewere on e-bay or on-line we will do everything in our power to locate and aquire the book/s and offer them at a price that is competetive with reasonible shipping and handling.
HERE ARE THE DEFINITIONS THAT BOOK COLLECTORS USE WHEN THEY ARE DESCRIBING THEIR BOOKS: (information source "The Official Price Guide To Old Books")
MINT: As new. Right off the press.
FINE: Nearly new. Sometimes a dealer might overlap this with "mint".
VERY GOOD: Definitely showing wear, but not damaged. Usually a clean, tight copy. Most collectible books fit this catergory.
GOOD: Obviously read. Perhaps the covers show moderate wear, a hinge is cracked in front or back; some minor spine fading might be present, the binding scuffed. Perhaps the book is even a little shaken, not quite as tight as it used to be. All in all, the condition shows the book has been around for a while and used. No really major defects.
FAIR: Worn and used. Cover soiled, scuffed, evidence of repairs, shaken, perhaps a page torn here or there. The book has definitely been around.
READING COPY: About all it is good for. Or, it may interest collectors or modern first editions who keep their pristine copies on a shelf safe from prying hands but who may still want to read Hemingway or Faulkner. Reading copies come in handy for research.
