iDu Jewelry produces jewelry items in Sterling Silver, Karat Gold (14K & 18K) and Gold-Fill. We do not currently produce Niobium, Titanium, Tungsten, Stainless Steel, Palladium or Platinum. We may also produce limited items in Argentium Silver or Fine Silver.
Sterling Silver: The industry standard for Sterling Silver is 92.5% by weight of silver and 7.5% by weight of other metals, usually copper. The copper is included to provide extra strength and durability to the metal. The majority of iDu Jewelry's items are made with Sterling Silver. Many items may be marked with "925" or "sterling" indicating that they are Sterling Silver. Items sold as Sterling Silver that do not include markings are still guaranteed to be Sterling Silver or .925 silver. iDu Jewelry, and/or component suppliers, may not mark all items during production.
Argentium Silver: This is a recent improvement to Sterling Silver that makes the metal highly tarnish resistant. Argentium Silver is produced by replacing the small amount of copper with a tarnish resistant alloy called Germanium. In typical Sterling Silver, the copper is what causes the metal to tarnish. Argentium Silver is still .925+ pure silver, the same as Sterling Silver. You get the same great look and feel of Sterling Silver without all the tarnish, cleaning and upkeep of regular Sterling Silver. Some Argentium Silver pieces may be marked "AS 925", ".925", or have a Pegasus (winged-horse) symbol. All of these various markings are approved for Argentium Silver.
Karat Gold: iDu Jewelry produces various items in 10 carat (10K), 14 carat (14K) and 18 carat (18K) gold. Both yellow and/or white gold may be available. Each item will be clearly labeled with carat value and gold color. The majority of iDu Jewelry's gold products are produced in 14K yellow gold.
Gold-Filled: Gold-Filled is a great alternative to solid 14K or 18K yellow gold jewelry. Gold-Filled is processed by wrapping a thick 14K yellow gold casing around a base core metal (typically brass). Gold-Filled is usually indicated as 14/20. This means its 14K yellow gold, 1/20th of its overall weight. Gold-Filled has a very thick exterior layer of gold and provides great long term wear. Don't confuse Gold-Filled with Gold-Plated. Plating only adheres a few molecules of gold to the surface of the base metal. The plating can chip, peel, crack and wear off over time.
Silver-Filled: iDu Jewelry does not sell Silver-Filled products. Silver-Filled is processed by wrapping a thick sterling silver casing around a base core metal (typically brass). The sterling silver exterior layer is typically 1/10th the diameter of the finished material. Silver-Filled is a middle ground between solid .925 sterling silver and silver plating. iDu Jewelry has made the decision to only sell solid .925 sterling silver and .930 Argentium silver. None of our products are made with Silver-Filled components.
CAUTION: Many competitive sellers are selling Silver-Filled products listed as sterling silver. Ebay does not currently have a material specification “selection” for Silver-Filled. Therefore, many sellers select sterling silver vs. silver plated. iDu Jewelry believes this misrepresents the product material and the overall product value.
Silver Plating / Gold Plating: iDu Jewelry does not typically sell any silver or gold plated products. If an item contains silver or gold plating, it will be clearly highlighted in the material specifications and the product description.
