eBay has made some strange changes to feedback and DSRs (detailed star ratings) and in my opinion they haven't explained it very well.
So here's my take:
When asked to rate sellers 1 to 5 -- one would think that
-
average is 3
-
4 is above average
-
etc. etc.
But no -- not eBay. This is how they judge us:
Now, that's pretty odd -- you have to admit. They give you five stars to choose from, but should we actually be rated at all '3's -- we wouldn't be allowed to sell on eBay.
We even have our eBay fees affected by these DSRs -- 4.5 and below we can't even be powersellers, 4.8 and above we get a discount on fees. Those three-tenths make a huge difference to those of us trying to make a living on eBay.
That doesn't leave a lot of wiggle room, does it?
And one last thing -- that pesky shipping star -- that's the one most sellers just hate. This is supposed to be how fast we got the order processed & shipped, not the actual postal shipping time because that has nothing to do with us. USPS, UPS, FedEx, DHL transit times -- whether things get lost or damaged -- that is out of our hands once we deposit it with the carrier.
By this thinking -- in order to get 5.0 we'd have to sell in our neighborhood -- forget about across town :)
So, if you would -- please consider all the above before deciding where to click on those stars.
Most of all, please contact us with any concerns -- we do NOT ignore emails. If we aren't responding to messages left via eBay, they may not be showing up on my side -- so feel free to contact me via email at mandystreasures@gmail.com. If all else fails, please call my cell phone at 951-299-7061 (remember, I'm on the West Coast tho). I can't answer it during the day when I'm at work, but I do check voicemails everyday.
These are the most frequent questions asked:
1. Do you ship internationally?
Yes I do, I charge actual shipping via USPS plus $2.00 handling fee to cover the trip to the post office and the extra forms required.
2. How often do you ship?
I ship on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays -- and try to ship the other days as well, but I do work full-time and sometimes three days is all I can manage. I'm a one-person operation - I don't have a team of people helping me.
3. Do you combine shipping for multiple items won?
Absolutely! I love multiple item winners. Just ignore my invoice until you're finished bidding. The last one will show the final amount due -- with the combined shipping amount.
Thanks again for bidding & winning or looking & thinking about bidding or for leaving me 5.0 feedback :)
