Application Tips
All About Foundation
General Application
First be sure that any moisturizers have fully absorbed into the skin before applying your new mineral foundation.
Step 1: Shake
Tap a small amount of foundation into the lid. Remember less is more, it’s always easier to add more than take away.
Step 2: Swirl
Swirl your brush into the minerals until most of the minerals have been picked up by the brush.
Step 3: Tap
Tap your flawless face brush on the side of the lid removing excess minerals from the bristles. Tap your brush once again with bristles pointing towards the ceiling on a hard surface. This will settle more minerals into your brush. When using a kabuki brush tap with the bristles pointing up initially.
Step 4: Buff
Buff your foundation onto your skin in a circular motion, using what we call the “30 second rule”, buffing for a minimum of 30 seconds with each application. You may feel that there are no more minerals left in your brush when in fact there is. Buffing will bring out the color and creaminess of mineral foundation. Don’t be afraid to buff! If you desire a fuller coverage, apply a couple light layers of foundation not a single heavy layer.
Step 5: Set
Set your foundation for a flawless, radiant finish using one of our setting powders. Use the SWIRL, TAP, BUFF method from above, however there is no need to apply the 30 second rule to our setting powders.
Concealing
Concealing with Foundation Yes! Mineral foundation can be used as a concealer! Just follow these simple instructions.
After Step 1:
Dip the tip of your concealer brush into the mineral foundation, tap off excess, apply where needed. Repeat again after step 4.
Concealing with Concealer Covering with a concealer might be a better option if you are wanting to cover blues and purples in the skin. Concealer is great for dark circles around the eyes!
Prior to Step 1:
You will tap a small amonunt of muliti-tasking bisque, green concealer, or concealer coverage light into the lid, using the concealer brush dip the tip of the brush into the minerals, tap off excess and apply where needed.
Concealing Severe Acne:
Great news! We have concealer coverage! Concealer coverage can be used as a spot concealer, as well as, a whole face concealer. Complete cover is not as heavy as multi-tasking bisque concealer.
For maximum coverage apply a thin layer of concealer coverage to your entire face before applying foundation.
Another option is to use a 50/50 mix of concealer coverage and foundation.
Application Tips For Oily Skin
For oily skin you will benefit greatly from adding these simple steps to your routine.
Blot:
Blot your skin with a thin sheet of bathroom tissue to remove excess oil and moisturizers.
Conceal:
If you have oily skin, we recommend concealing before you prime.
Prime:
Prime your skin with either Cream, Sheer Matte, or Mocha Setting Powder. Then follow steps from above.
Set:
Pay close attention to the areas of the face that tend to get more oily. You can even use your concealer brush and go over these areas with setting powder for double protection!
For extremely oily skin:
Use the method above. For an added benefit, you may include concealer coverage to your routine, mix it with your foundation, or as a primer. Concealer coverage has amazing oil absorbing qualities.
I know girls, so much extra work for oily skin! BUT, you will be glad to know that women with oily skin do not wrinkle as quickly!
All About Color
Blush / Bronzers Mineral Perfection blushes and bronzers are highly concentrated, use them sparingly. Again, it’s easier to add more than to take away. Buff on lightly to cheeks, and any other area you would like a natural glow.
Eyeshadow Apply as you would normally. Again, remember to tap off excess into lid before applying loose minerals.
Do you like one of our colors, but don't like the "glitter"? To keep the color and get rid of the "glitter" simply use our blending brush and sweep it across your lids.
Shimmer Shadows vs. Matte Shadows Mature ladies have often been told to not wear shimmer shadows. Well, let me explain what they really mean... Mature ladies should not wear FROST shadows. What is the difference between a frost and a shimmer? A frost covers the skin completely, a shimmer gives you color allowing your skin to peek through. Our shimmer shadows can be worn by older women. Don't be afraid to give it a try!
Basic eye shadow application usually consists of three colors. Your highlight, mid-tone, and accent. Your highlight shade should be a light pink, white, vanilla etc. Your mid-tone should be a neutral that is close to your skin tone, usually in the brown family. Your accent color is your "fun color". Your highlight and mid-tone should be what you always wear and your accent color will change with your mood, occassion etc.
Using our eye shadow brush sweep your highlighter just under the arch of the eyebrow to the end. Wipe your brush on a towel. Apply mid-tone to your lid. Wipe your brush on a towel. Apply your accent along the lash line into the crease, in shape like of a sideways u or v. Using our blending brush and a light hand, blend your colors in an upward direction. The will give your colors a softer less choppy appearance.
Facial Contouring Facial contouring or sculpting is used by makeup artists to the stars! Why? A face that is perfectly oval is said the be the "perfect face". Facial contouring make your face appear more oval. In addition it makes your face appear slimmer! Facial contouring is done by highlighting and contouring areas of the face. Highlighting the high points in your face will make them pop, and contouring the outside of the face will visually recede that area making the face appear to be more narrow and slim. For maximum results we recommend contouring with 3 foundation colors. Did your jaw just drop? I bet it did! Although, this is the ideal way to achieve a noticeable difference in your appearance, there is an easier way. We will explain the two methods and you can choose which is best for you!
First you need to "know your oval". The width of your oval is eye socket to eye socket, the length of your oval is tip of your forehead to the tip of your chin. Imagine putting on a mask that is as wide as the end of one eyebrow to the other and as tall as the tip of your forehead to the tip of your chin. Under the mask is the inside of your oval, anything outside the mask is the outside of your oval. Got it? Confusing at first but you’ll get it!
Quick and easy method: Using contour, blush, or bronzer gently apply to the OUTSIDE of your oval, which includes your temples, along your hairline, and sides of your cheek. Thats it!
Now for the makeup queen! You will need 3 foundation shades; your perfect match, one shade lighter, and one shade darker. First apply your perfect match to your whole face as you would normally. Second apply the lighter shade (your highlighter shade). Visualize your oval... apply your highlighting foundation to the high points of your INSIDE your oval, your forehead, tip of your chin, under your eyes & on your cheek bones. Third, apply your darker shade (contour shade) to the areas OUTSIDE your oval, including the hairline, temples, and sides of your cheek. Thats it! You are done!
Once you do this a few times, it will be a breeze! Only taking an extra two minutes in the morning! And I assure you will get compliments!
