Have you ever been given a gift that didn't mean anything?. It doesn't have to go overboard, but a gift backed by an idea will make it memorable and all the more loveable.
Pointer 1: Make it a story
Lets say you give your friend a Lion plushie, simple enough. In a card, or you can tell them this after they open it. "I know you have cats, and I know your brave enough to try for a real lion. However I wanted to do another good deed and save your life. That is why I bought you this fake lion instead" In my opinion this will make the gift, now it turns into a story every time someone asks about their gift.
Pointer 2: Give it a Name
If your friend gives his gift a name, its special to you. However, if you name the gift your giving your friend, its special to your friend. There was a television show on awhile back where a man named a fish he was cooking. Everyone around him said it was harder to eat now that it had a name. Now of course thats just a joke, but the same idea applies. The fish has more weight in this world now that it has a name.
Pointer 3: The art of packing
I'm somewhat of a prankster myself. One time I went as far as packing a gift in a solid wooden box wrapped with wire and duct tape. More ideas are wrapping a note in a box, and having their gift in an obvious spot in the room, a scavenger hunt.
Now put all 3 of these ideas together and you have a GOLDEN gift. Remember, its not the gift, its the thought you put into the gift. Expensive gifts only work when your getting married.
