Holiday Shipping

It is the holiday season again, so PLEASE be patient with your shipment.  We get your packages to the Post Office the SAME day or the NEXT day after we have received/verified your payment.  Because of the increased activity during the holidays, the Post Office sometimes takes quite a bit longer to deliver packages, regardless of the shipping time they estimate.  If you are having problems tracking or locating a package, PLEASE contact us and we will help you get the information you need.  If you are bidding on a holiday gift, please consider shipping time when choosing how you wish to receive your package.

IMPORTANT SHIPPING NOTE:  Media Rate Items – In past holiday seasons, we have had a number of Media Rate packages take up to 27 days to arrive at their destinations.  PLEASE keep this in mind when choosing how you wish to have your package sent.  Once we deliver your item to the Post Office, it is totally out of our hands, and we have NO way to speed up the delivery.  Media rate is extremely slow, and the LAST priority at the Post Office, including updating the tracking information on their web site.  Around ANY holidays, this process is expected to take even longer.  Media rate postage (only available for a select number of items) is the most reasonably priced postage, but can cause quite a headache, so please be patient.  We will help you track your package to the best of our abilities.

About Us
WHERE DID IT COME FROM? In early 2016, we began clearing out our father's 1500 square foot warehouse that has been used to store a seemingly infinite number of items since 1970. Our family owned a military surplus store in the 1970s, and he purchased surplus in bulk at Department of Defense Auctions from local Military Bases (Alameda, Mare Island, and Hamilton). All inventories that weren’t sold when the store closed (circa 1977) were stored in this warehouse. He had accumulated many tools such as wrenches - a large number of 1-1/4" and larger that were used for ship building, CASES of fasteners, screws, nuts, washers, etc., most are aviation and nautical, general military surplus including clothing, patches, flight suits, flight helmets, and thousands of miscellaneous items. The collection includes a very large number of naval block and tackle (wood frames with iron sheaves and hooks, painted battleship grey, with single, double and triple sheave sizes), some helicopter and airplane parts (mostly hydraulic actuators/servos, some clamps and small connectors), and other random items such as office supplies, medical devices, small boat props, glassware, dishware, and "DANGER MINES" signs from the early 1950s just to name a few. Most of the military surplus was made and manufactured in the 1950s and 1960s and much of it is still in the original packaging with dates and part numbers. Our father purchased most of these items by the pallet, so the volume is overwhelming. In fact, the warehouse was packed to the rafters with boxes when we started. He did not exclusively buy military surplus; he bought the inventory from many local business that were closing their doors, such as a lamp company, a record store, and a number of book stores. This huge warehouse has slowly been filled with other random items purchased over the years, so we have countless glass lamp shades, vintage metal (mainly brass) lamp parts, and boxes and boxes and BOXES of books and LPs which we had already been selling online since 2007. We have worked extremely hard to whittle down the inventory to a manageable amount, so we are now, finally, able to slowly start putting some items up for sale. We will describe the condition and provenance of these items to the best of our ability and include multiple photos with every listing. Please see each photo for closer details and overall condition of each of our items. PLEASE ask questions - we are happy to provide additional information/photos upon request. Any/all cleaning/restoration/repair (if necessary) is the responsibility of the buyer.
Shipping Insurance
eBay no longer lets sellers offer shipping insurance at the time of purchase. Shipping charges shown on our listings DO NOT INCLUDE insurance for your purchase UNLESS OTHERWISE INDICATED. On higher priced items we will add insurance charges into the handling fees but we generally try to disclose this information in the listing language (sometimes things are missed so please ask questions). If you would like insurance added to your purchase, PLEASE CONTACT US before you pay so we can send you a corrected invoice showing the additional charge for insurance. We obtain written confirmation on all packages once they are received into the USPS shipping system. We will not add signature confirmation or additional shipping features to purchases unless requested PRIOR to invoicing so we can add that charge into the shipping cost. We encourage all buyers to contact us prior to bidding if you they have any questions or concerns, or would like additional information.
