I go to local marine swap meets and buy parts for my own Sailboat restoration (see photo of my 1957 Newporter 40 ketch) the parts I don't need I sell on EBay.
I'm learning I don't have to keep everything, I guess I'll share! After owning many sailboats throughout my life I have also ended up with a lot of gear that I am begrudgingly getting rid of, it's just so hard to let an item go that I may need someday, and some of the vintage gear is getting harder and harder to come by.
My loss is your gain, well no......actually my loss, is my gain??? I sell it and gain some space in my shop and whatever profit is left goes into my hole in the water....... I'm sure you have all heard the one about a boat being "a hole in the water that you throw money into". too true.
I imagine you have all heard the definition of sailing: The fine art of getting wet and becoming ill, while going nowhere slowly at great expense.
That's the end of my plagiarized wisdom.
