Q: "Why do you collect sales taxes?"
A: It has been determined by the Canada Revenue Agency that we are required to report our income & collect the sales tax.
Q: "How can the Canadian Revenue Agency investigate sales on Ebay?"
A: Similar to any business in Canada, the CRA can ask to see any & all documents, ledgers & banking activities including Paypal.
Q: "Superfleas, why are you collecting the sale tax in American funds?"
A: Taxes are a percent of the sale regardless of the currency or method of payment.
Q: "Superfleas. Why is your billing done in US Dollars?"
A: Most of our sales are to International & US customers.
It has been recommend to us by Ebay that most customers prefer to be billed in US funds.
Q: "Why are other Canadian sellers on Ebay not required to collect sales tax?"
A: Most small time sellers in Canada do not exceed the $30,000 per year taxable income threshold.
Other sellers may be temporarily ignorant until corrected (with penalties) by the CRA.
Q: "Superfleas, you are not in the same province, why are you collecting tax as if you were located here?"
A: The CRA views your physical delivery address as the point of sale.
Q: "I have purchased an item but I am not paying the sales tax!"
A: If you don't want to pay the tax then you should not have made the purchase.
We will honor a request to cancel a transaction in regards to a tax avoidance.
Q: "Superfleas.. Why are you charging tax on the item & the postage?"
A: There is tax on postage stamps in Canada.
Q: "Superfleas.. Why are you charging tax on old collectible Canadian money?"
We have had a CRA ruling & there are applicable taxes on bank notes & coins that sell for more than face value.
Q: "How does the CRA divide the tax money up between the provinces?"
A: Taxes are paid to the CRA, what they do with it is questionable. Contact them.
Q: "I am a member of the First Nations & we don't pay tax"
A: We respect this fact but we must charge you tax. You can apply for the tax back through you local council or government.
Q: "Superfleas... What is your tax number I want to investigate you."
