GENERAL Instructions & Guides
Please Note: My Small logo located at the bottom
of My templates and Store fronts are NOT to be removed for any
reason.Other than if you purchased a Commercial License and this only
applies to auction templates.
There are multiple ways to modify our Auction Templates for your
specific auctions. These are instructions for using standard text
editors such as Wordpad, Word, Notepad, etc. For those unfamiliar with
HTML it is basically “Fill In The Blank” and simplifies the process for
those uncomfortable with working directly in the template. These
instructions for editing, however are Very Easy and you should not have
any problems if you follow the instructions carefully, step by step.
You will need an image host for your images. If you do not have an
image host, we suggest you set up a free account at Photobucket.
Most customers provide us with temporary access to their image host. We
then upload the template images for them and insert the code into their
template.
Easiest and most efficient is method one allowing us to upload them,
however we are happy to work with you in any of the methods detailed
above.
We prefer to allow our customers to host their own template images so
they have more control over their content. If we host all of our
client’s images, first it takes up a great deal of space .
Secondly, Very hard to keep up with what image belongs to who. It is simply more practical
and reliable for each client to have control over their own images.
More detailed instructions are available. Please ask us!
on uploading the files and obtaining the image links.
Once that is done, the template code is completed so that you can begin creating your auction.
First you must upload your product images to your image host. Directions for uploading images are available please ask!
You will receive your template in the form of a rich text file (.rtf).
The document may be opened in most word processing programs.
BEFORE EDITING the template in any way, save a copy of it on your hard
drive, maybe even make a backup copy on CD or DVD. Always keep a copy
of the original file we send. Copy it and rename it to an alternate
name such as work copy or edit copy. Then you can always refer back to the original in case of problems.
When you open the file do not be overwhelmed by the code. This is much simpler than it may first appear.
The first area to edit is just under the header graphics. Scroll down until you see the text:
This is where your auction title goes
The text appears in red in your template, however it will NOT
appear in red when it displays in Ebay. This is where you will enter
your Auction Title. Just type over the existing text with your
information. Your information will not appear in red when your template
displays, so do not worry about that.
The next area to edit is where you see the text:
Paste Your Product Image HTML Code Here
This is where you will enter the html image code to your
product image(s). If you have more than one image, you will separate
the html with a <br><br>
in between.
Instructions
for obtaining HTML image code for your product images is available just
ASK! If you are using photobucket for your image hosting, you would
first need to upload you photos . This is a screenshot of the image after uploading to Photobucket:
You want to copy the area from the HTML Code box for insertion into
your template. This is important to select the code from the correct
box (HTML CODE box) for your template to function properly.Simply
“click” in the box, the code will automatically be copied onto your
clipboard. Return to your template, highlight Paste Your Product Image
HTML Code Here and paste in the new code. If you have only one product
image, you have completed this portion of template editing. If you wish
to add another product image, simply enter <br><br> after the first image, and add your next image. And so on until all of your images are loaded into the template.
There are four more text areas to be edited, and a scrolling marquee. Scroll to this area:
Note: (your text will not appear red when template displays)
Replace With Description Text (replace this text with your own description text)
Same for the following areas:
Replace With Your Payment Text
Replace With Your Shipping Text
Replace With Your Terms and/or Returns Text
Now on to the Marquee. Scroll to the area:
Thanks for shopping with us!
If you wish to have the marquee removed altogether, please contact us
and we’ll be happy to do so. You can simply remove the marquee text to
leave it blank. Otherwise, simply replace the marquee scrolling text
with your own. Thanks for shopping with us! (replace this with your own text if you wish).
You may cut and paste your text into www.practiceboard.com and click the view html button as shown in the example below:
If something does not look right, review the instructions and your
steps thoroughly. If you continue to have problems, insert your code
into the www.practiceboard.com as shown above, and click view html.
A link will appear that you can send to us for troubleshooting your
template. We’ll try to respond as quickly as possible, but cannot
guarantee an immediate response. The link is only valid for a temporary
time period.
Now that your template is ready and customized for your auction, we are
ready to upload it to Ebay! Go to ebay.com and access the Sell tab as
