About us

The History Bank began in 1979, specializing historia from the Civil War to the 1960s. Partners Norm Bolotin and Christine Laing have written 12 books and countless book-length reports/other pblications for museums, university presses and trade publishers, as well as producing and publishing another 200 books between 1980 and 2010. We developed the seven-book award-winning Young Readers' History of the Civil War which has sold more than 650,000 copies. Our World's Columbian Exposition history, first published in 1993, remains the benchmark for histories of the fair. Our second WCE book, the history of the world's first Midway, was published in 2017 and we are currently working on our third, Columbian Rarities.

We also began selling historical coins, medals, ephemera, books and documents in 1979. Norm has taught, lectured and consulted to the universities of Chicago, Arizona State, Radcliffe, Long Beach and others, as well as more than 20 museums in the US, Canada and abroad.

As described. Timely. No tracking data offered until the actual delivery day. No response to communication. Would buy from again but insist on tracking data from day one.

Very nice Canadian silver dollar. Full of luster. Greatly appreciated the informative information that the seller provided--like peering into history. I guess that is why the name of the shop is the history bank. Clearly Norm--a researcher, author, journalist, historian, collector, and seller--has a great and deep appreciation of the coins and other items that he sells. Very pleased with the Canadian dollars I received and look forward to more coming my way in the future. All good!
