Cholula is a small colonial city filled with Catholic churches, many built over pre-Colombian monuments by the Spaniards, such as the enormous Cholula Pyramid where you can admire beautiful pre-Hispanic murals and on the top you can find the Nuestra Señora de los Remedios Church. Cholula is situated 12 km outside of Puebla City, in the State of Puebla, Mexico. Among the main handicrafts produced in Cholula are the hand woven textiles and glazed pottery.

Plenty of music and plenty of clowns make any parade a child's delight. Add "the Shriners on Trucks and carts and you have a parade for the ages! A traditional 4'th of July (Independence Day) celebration includes: a pancake breakfast, a parade, a lobster and clam bake (with corn on the cob), a concert on the green, all ending with fireworks. Bar Harbor, Maine USA does it with style.

Puebla is  famous for their camote, a candy made from sweet potatoes and fruit. If you have a sweet tooth, you’ll delight in walking along Sweet Street ( La Calle de los Dulces Calle 6 Oriente Street) where shops compete to sell a variety of freshly made camote and other sugary treats. This beautiful city is a delightful mix of 17th and 18th century art and architecture.

The first hansom cabs appeared in New York City in 1862. After an evening on the town, take a romantic carriage ride through the park. Hail a hansom cab at the park's south end, across from the Plaza hotel.

Teotitlán del Valle, Oaxaca is known particularly for it's colorful, hand-woven rugs. Teotitlán's rug makers use wool which, after being shorn from the sheep, washed, carded and spun, is dyed with natural colors from animal, vegetable and mineral sources such as alfalfa leaves (green), the Indigo plant (blue), nutshells and tree barks (tans & browns), and the Cochineal bug (reds/purples), as well as a variety of seeds, fruits and flowers.

The fumaroles of Popocatepetl are evidence of the warm heart of the warrior which seeks to keep Xochiquetzal’s ( his fiancee)  body warm.

According to Aztec legend, Iztaccíhuatl's father sent him to war in Oaxaca, promising him his daughter as his wife if he returned (which Iztaccíhuatl's father presumed he would not). Iztaccíhuatl's father told her that her lover had fallen in battle and she died of grief. When Popocatépetl returned, and discovered the death of his lover, he committed suicide by plunging a dagger through his heart. The gods covered them with snow and changed them into mountains. Iztaccíhuatl's mountain was called "La Mujer Dormida, (the "Sleeping Woman"), because it bears a resemblance to a woman sleeping on her back. Popocatépetl became the volcano Popocatépetl, raining fire on Earth in blind rage at the loss of his beloved.

Ponds are often full of plant and animal life, especially if their waters contain nitrogen (needed for plant growth) and phosphorus (needed for plant reproduction). Aquatic plants grow at various depths, some preferring the shallows near the edge of a pond, some thriving in moderate depths. Many freefloating plants and algae benefit from the bright sunlight at the surface and the waterborne nutrients in the pond itself.

Although modern Puebla is highly industrialized, its historic downtown remains a Spanish-colonial treasure filled with elegant 17th and 18th century European architecture and art.

During the last two to three million years, 20 to 30 ice sheets intermittently covered most of New England. Eventually, after the ice melted, some deepened valleys became water basins. These water-filled hollows became Eagle Lake and Echo Lake. In one instance, the glacier cut a trough that resulted from an ice-sculpting "binge," so deep that it filled with sea water. This formed a fjord now called Somes Sound.

The process of weaving hats using plant fibers is basically the same as weaving baskets -- just with the end results fit over the head and have brims. One of the two main hat-weaving regions of Mexico is the Mixteca Alta region, the highland area occupied by Mixtec Indians, covering parts of Puebla, Oaxaca, and Guerrero. The other hat-weaving region is the Yucatán Peninsula, especially in Becal, Campeche, where Panama hats, also known as jipi-japas, are made of a fine-fibered palm.

Clowns are both unnoticed and everywhere in Mexico.

In Mexico, popular arts are held in high regard, and even middle-class Mexicans tend to tolerate (and often appreciate) this subculture of humble street clowns. Even those who view it more as a hustle than an art at least see it as an honest and creative hustle — after all, a clown has to eat. As the callejero slogan goes: Venga a ver lo que hace el hambre. (“Come see what hunger makes.”)

Every morning at dawn my brother would run for an hour while I would snap pictures. A small patch at the park's entrance, known as Jules Verne Park, honors the French writer who featured Tampa in his 1865 novel, "From the Earth to the Moon." The entire park was known as Jules Verne Park until 1920. A quaint wooden pier extends 960 feet into Old Tampa Bay. Stroll to the end and swap fish stories with sun-baked anglers. The park was nominated for Best Make-Out Spot for being one of Tampa's most popular spots to smooch.

Weaving and textile design go back a long way in Mexico and the variety on offer is enormous. Textiles can be spun in cotton or wool on the traditional telardecintura, a ‘waist loom’, or telardepie, a pedal-operated loom introduced by the Spanish. Many woven items are on sale in the markets, from sarapes and morrales (shoulder bags) to wall-hangings, rugs and bedspreads.

Waldo County, situated in mid-coast Maine along scenic Penobscot Bay, has genuine New England character evidenced by working port towns and quaint rural villages. Visitors are awed by the area's unspoiled beauty. From striking coastal views to sweeping mountain vistas, dramatic natural settings abound. In addition great care has been taken to preserve and refurbish numerous historic landmarks, homes and buildings. Consequently, the Maine of yesteryear is still found here.

Holy Week ends the 40-day period of Lent and is the most sacred time of the year in Mexico. During this time, there are numerous activities, such as religious processions and decorations on the sidewalks with flowers. People may create small altars and palm crosses are ubiquitous.

It's a quintessential NYC tourist thing to do - take a hansom cab ride around Central Park. It's a tourist stereotype, but it's fun and not something you do every day, which must be why everyone does it. The cabs line up around the south end of the park, across from the famous Plaza Hotel. Find one you like and hop in. Rides tend to run around $25 and loop up to the halfway point of the park and around - maybe about 20 minutes. If you get a good cabbie, he'll give you a history of Park sites and others within eyeshot. Make sure you get the cute photo of yourself in the cab.

The villagers, particularly the children, would be frightened by their tremendous height and dominating presence. Often they would be someone who lived among the villagers, but they always remained anonymous by wearing a mask and covering their body in traditional clothing.
