About us
Vintage, heirloom quality, sewing machines, parts, accessories, supplies are one of my hobbies. I acquire, clean, repair, collect, showcase and sell . I think of the heirloom machine as a form of functional art, They represent to me a wonderful, productive, and fading part of our history. I strive to prolong the life and use of these classic machines by promoting their use and providing parts economically to those wishing to do the same. My prices do not reflect the manhours I invest in this endeavor. I have rescued many a machine from it's fate of ending up in the landfill.
Starting in the 1950's, manufacturers started building and designing products with less labor and cheaper materials. The name given this strategy was "designed obsolescence" because they could sell you a replacement for the item you previously purchased and now wasn't working and repairs were almost as much as the new item. Since then a sewing machine is good for maybe 5 years then is tossed away.
