Do
not expose your turquoise, gemstones or any sterling
silver jewelry to chlorine bleach or any other
chemicals!
To
safely clean and maintain your turquoise and
gemstone jewelry, use a polishing cloth. It is
the only thing that you'll ever need to keep that
shine and sparkle and it's safe for use on your
turquoise, gemstones and your bear claws too.
We
believe, to the best of our ability, that the
turquoise items we sell are natural turquoise stone
and not stabilized, treated or reconstituted unless
otherwise stated. Of course, we cannot be
absolutely sure of that fact since we are not
physically present when our items are crafted, but
we do trust the word of our artists and suppliers
since we have been dealing with them for years and
years.
You
should treat your turquoise jewelry that you
purchase from us as natural turquoise; that way,
you'll be able to enjoy it for many, many years to
come!
Being a phosphate mineral, turquoise is inherently
fragile; do not expose it to soaps, shampoos,
perfumes and other cosmetics will attack the finish
and can/will alter the color of turquoise gems, as
will most commercial jewelry cleaning fluids.
Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight may also
discolor or dehydrate turquoise making it dry and
brittle. Care should therefore be taken when wearing
such jewels: cosmetics, including sunscreen and
hairspray, should be applied before putting on
turquoise jewelry, and they should not be worn to a
beach or other sun-bathed environment.
After use, turquoise should be gently cleaned with a
soft clean cloth to avoid a build up of residue, and
should be stored in its own box to avoid scratching
by harder gems.
Also, make sure the box is not airtight, or the
turquoise can be ruined.
Do
not ever pull cuff bracelets open or squeeze them
closed! Doing so will compromise the seal(s)
holding the stones in place and they will crack or
fall out.
Even if the bracelet does not contain stones, it
weakens the metal and the bracelet can break if it
is subjected to such stress -- especially if done
repeatedly.
Since turquoise is fragile in it's physical makeup,
do not wear rings or bracelets while doing physical
activities such as using hand tools that can put
direct force, vibration or impact on the turquoise
stones; especially rings that have the stones set
all the way around the ring!
